So fans may be a little surprised to see Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens in their latest film.
The Wizards of Waveley Place actress, 19, and her High School Musical co-star, 23, have transformed into troublesome Spring Breakers on set, getting into the spirit of their characters.
The girls were seen parading every inch of flesh as they got drunk on the streets of Florida, with Vanessa drinking straight from a Jack Daniels bottle.
Filming took place as darkness fell in St Petersburg, against the backdrop of real life Spring Break.
Completing the silver screen friendship circle was Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine.
The quartet appeared boisterous and obnoxious, chain-smoking outside liquor stores and generally causing a commotion.
During one scene, Rachel - who is married to the film's scriptwriter Harmony Korine - is seen lying face down on the ground, either having passed out from drinking or having been hit by a car.
In contrast, there were less disturbing scenes earlier while shooting on the beach and on scooters.
Selena, Vanessa, Ashley and Rachel whizzed around on colourful mopeds in their bright bikinis.
The foursome stopped traffic as they zoomed around, surrounded by male extras as they did so.
Justin Bieber's current squeeze Selena showed off her fantastic figure in a turquoise bikini and blue shorts while riding a mint green scooter, accessorising with a pair of psychedelic orange lens shades.
Meanwhile Vanessa, who has already vamped up her image in the seductive Sucker Punch, was feeling bold as she opted for a lime green bikini while roaming around on a red moped.
Pretty Little Liars star Ashley, 22, went for a tropical look with a Hawaiian print bikini top and yellow hotpants, and her tiny shorts were a perfect complement to her amber scooter.
Rachel wore a neon bikini top under a matching mesh T-shirt, while her sea-salt pink hair tumbled over her shoulders.
The group have been filming on location for the last couple of weeks and although they have been working long hours, they appear to have been having a lot of fun as they do so.
The actresses appear to have quickly formed a close bond which will undoubtedly translate to the screen when the drama film is released next year.
The films plot revolves around the four friends, who decide the only way they'll be able to afford a fabulous spring break is to commit a robbery.
They are saved by a crazy arms dealer, played by James Franco, who then recruits them to do his nefarious bidding.
Both Vanessa and Selena have spoken out about their roles.
Speaking of her character, Vanessa told E! News: 'She's a crazy party girl. She's the one I feel kind of gets everyone going and pushes everyone a little bit.
'It's all done in the craziest manic way. There's a bit of craziness inside of me as well, so I'm excited to let loose.'
Meanwhile Monte Carlo actress Selena has admitted that she doesn't have a lot in common with her alter ego: 'It'll be a real challenge for me because it's completely opposite for me.'
