Hello All,

I desperately need some urgent help in making a decision whether to purchase this piece or not that I was offered today. Its a rare pink MOP with rose gold setting VCA watch with only 150 pcs ever made. I truly loved the piece but I am wondering if its worth the investment for a watch or it doesnt hold its value like Cartier? I intend to keep it but there comes a time after 5 or 7 years down the line where I like rotating my pieces, and my second concern is whether I should go for VCA watch because i loves the pink MOP or make a less emotional decision and purchase a Rolex, Cartier or Jaeger for the same price?

Attached are the pictures of this stunning piece. Sorry for the blur, took them in a hurry.

Thank you so much lovelies!

I personally love this watch, but as others have said more or less - if you are on the fence then I don’t think you should move forward with purchasing this. A purchase of any kind should make you happy and excited  .
I never think of my purchases as “investment” pieces...but I would assume something more "in demand" would be considered an “investment”.

Let us know what you decide

I do not believe this piece is ‘rare’. When I asked about it my store had 2 in stock to compare. I decided to get a Rolex instead for the same use as it was more the look I wanted (rg two tone with diamonds). I would only buy it if you love it and will wear it. Not for resale later.
Agree that this piece is not “rare” and also the style is not a rare one either. I have over the past year or so tried on this pink MOP piece three times. It‘s also a quartz movement so I see it more as a jewellery piece than a proper watch.

The main reason I was never seriously considering purchasing is actually because I have the guilloche / diamond version — which I love.

My philosophy around expensive items losing their monetary value once out of the shop is this: even if for some reason I decide to sell it down the road and “lose” money, I would have enjoyed wearing the piece in the meantime. For me ”investment“ when it comes to fashion and jewellery means whether I receive a lot of joy in return for the price of piece.

If you want a watch that will hold or even increase value and which are also around 20k, I think Rolex and PP are the way to go. I have “lost” money selling A Lange and Cartier.

To share experience from owning a similar pink mop watch. I bought it because it's a very feminine dress watch that can double-up as jewellery. There is no resale value & eventual intention is to pass to my daughters. I seldom get to wear it except for selected dinner occasions or when OOTD fits. If the intention is to own for a while in hope of future resales, this amount of money will get you a nice Rolex.

I agree with everyone else that this won’t retain value, but it’s only been in the past-2 or 3 years that this phenomenon has happened with women’s watches. Whether Patek or Rolex, they never held their price or would go over retail. So, don’t rely on these things. As @chiaoapple said, wear it and enjoy it, but first and foremost make sure you love it. It seems like you don’t, so why waste $20,000 on something you don’t love. Get something else.

I have the pink mop and rose gold Alhambra watch and absolutely love it. I did not buy it thinking about resale, just that it made my heart skip a beat when I saw it and then when I tried it on, it was pure love. I have not regretted it since I’ve gotten it and plan to cherish it as long as I have it. I wear it pretty frequently even when casual, it is very distinctive. For me, this piece is more a bracelet than a watch, my cell phone is always with me and tells time perfectly.

I love how you described ‘inestment’ when it comes to things. This is how I feel. I think one of my best jewellery investment was a yellow heart diamond that I had set in a ring. Likely unpopular piece to many and who knows what resale is but I get so much joy looking at it throughout day when I wear it (which is frequently).
The pink mop watch did not spark as much joy as my 2 tone Rolex. Hence why I went with Rolex.

I’m definitely late to this, but I feel that VCA is a good investment if it’s anything but a watch. I feel like for a watch, I’d go for something which is known for making watches such as a Rolex… Personally, I’d buy it if I loved the item, and that pink MoP is so pretty that I would, but not for the investment value.
