I up-cycled a thin headband, by wrapping some bolce ribbon around it. I secured the ribbon with fabric glue on each end of the headband.

It is an easy DIY. Just make sure you have enough ribbon before you cut it. (I'm speaking from personal experience.)

(wow that fish looks a little dead here :laugh:)

Thanks for letting me share :)

wow!! Absolutely amazing! Apart from creativity, it requires a lot of time and patience to make such a beautiful fish ribbon :)
And a lot of ribbon...that also take time to collect for someone like me who has just started with my very first H.
I guess it is one more reason to love H , for its versatility.:amuse:

Here you have my little idea :smile1:

I think this looks great, not silly. Whenever I wear a tie blouse, I use the ties to to secure my scarves.

It's a clever use of a twilly. Rock it girl!

Thanks Pamella and LuckyCloset! :))
Since I read this thred for the first time, I have fallen in love with the silk pompoms!!!
I have searched a lot in the internet to find the way to make at least something similar.
There are different options of makeing this type of knot..here you have the best one in my opinion..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwU16WjXLq0&feature=related
(I'm not sure that is the way to attach the link).
To tell you the truth, it took me all friday (from 10am till 8pm) :smile1: to create something more or less similar.

I have used old stained silk ties to make a pompons. (cut it in thin (4-5cm aprox. wide) and long stripes, than iron it, than sew all the way long). I had to sew them by hands since my mini sewing machine will not sew anything so thin :sweatdrop:
Once you get the stripes, just follow the instructions of the link above.
Once pompon is almost ready (before you completely tide it up), place the leather stripe in the middle (that is where you attach keyring or anything you like).
I will post the pictures later when I get my camera.
I made several options : one with the leather srtipe, others with the leather srtipe covered by H ribbon.
LOve both!!!:yahoo:
Which ones do you preffer??
PLease post any self made silk pompons..:amuse:
I'm very excited to see others and maybe improve my skilles, since making them "my way" takes for ages..
