I visited Hermes.com (US) in the morning yesterday and saw a lot of twillys available. But when I was ready to purchase one, they were all gone. This was in the afternoon. This morning I called Hermes stores both in BH and SCP; they said that they have a few but not the one I'm looking for and suggested me once I see the one I like, I should snap it right away because they are normally sold out quickly.

Is it true? It's hard to believe. SA just said that to make us want Hermes stuffs even more?? Should I just wait until they are popped up on their websites instead? Any suggestion would be appreciated!! Thank you!!:smile1:

new twillys are trickling into the stores so you could always check the boutiques when they get a shipment. they are becoming more rare as ppl tend to buy pairs. also, if you do see what you want online, you should get it and not wait. they go pretty fast..

I have the same problem! For more than a year I once a week (or two weeks) visit H store for twillys and gavroches. Especially if you want exact design. And sometimes there are no twillys at all.
Twilly is a cheap item and people purchase them often, I think. That makes them hard to get. But when you did it - you feel proud!:yahoo: A small piece of happines :D

The current twilly shortage is yet another Hermes mystery lol!! I remember not long ago, you used to be able to walk into any H boutique & there would be literally dozens of twillys to choose from. Now, you're lucky if there are one or two pieces! I don't get it. I can't imagine that demand has gone up that much. And even if it has, twillys have got to be one of the cheapest, quickest, easiest items for H to produce. There is no shortage of regular scarves, which take far longer to produce than a twilly (think about how long it must take to hand-roll a perfect hem versus the mere seconds it takes to machine-stitch a twilly-- not to mention that it doesn't take highly trained craftsmen to operate a sewing machine). I don't buy it that they can't keep up with demand-- there must be some other explanation for the shortage.

happened to me too, saw a set i loved but when i was ready to purchase it was all sold out.

i had to call a store to do a search for me, finally found the set in a store quite a distance from me and had it

posted out.

Can the store do charge send because I am sure if you have the style number and colorway the store could locate and do a charge send. Not many SAs offer this automatically but I am sure they could do that. I called Hermes store looking for a specific twilly and the SA offered to do charge send for me which was really good but there are times when I called the SA didn't offer this to me until I ask.

Yodaling1 - You know why SAs won't do a charge send ? My SA told me that it is 'too much work for a small amount'. For $145, they have to take your credit card and package the item. Plus, most of the twillies are reserved for their customers and never make it to the shelves. On top of it, a lot of SAs are now recommending the customers to buy a pair instead of one 'just in case' you need for H bags with 2 handles. It is a vicious cycle since supply is low already as there are more demand to put twillies on bags. When everyone starts to buy a pair instead of one, that is doubling the demand on already short supply.

I ended up buying only one twilly for my Kelly and I got a funny look from my SA as if she is telling me 'are you stupid not to grab two when they are available ?'

Even just 7 months ago in December when I walked into the San Francisco store that the whole drawer would be full of twillies. Now they get just a few and it is like spoon feeding the customers or maybe corporate is spoon feeding the market to create an allure for more !!

I guess it depends on the SA mood. I bought a pair recently and the store I called didn't have them but the SA offered to do a charge send for me from another store after checking the system which was nice of her. I always buy them in a pair unless it's the only one left in the entire country.

I don't know about H.com US, but for Europe, it will pop up again. Yes, whenever it is available on the website, you should just grab it ASAP. Keep looking everyday..usually they update the website at least twice a day..so check the website often :smile1: and hopefully you will find one soon.

They are not always available in my local store, but when I look online, there seems to be quite a lot of twillies (even in pair) available at high price. Are they being grabbed by the resellers as well?

Yes, when I went to Hermes store in BH in January, there are a lot of twillys, also a lot on their website. That's why I am wondering why all of the sudden, there are short in supplies.

The twilly I am eyeing on just popped up on their website again a couple days ago. And this time I immediately placed an order. Everything went well until this morning I received a call from Hermes that they didn't have any in their inventory and had to cancel my order..

I have to look for it all over again..

I read on Wen's reply that you were looking for an orange sequence? If so, H store in Encore Las Vegas has it. I saw it last week :). GL!
