Trying to find a DBTY (I want a tiny stone!)

Well that's the sort of physical sized diamond I'd be happy with, depending how that fits in with my budget.

To be honest, based on the prices of jewelry where I live (I know, I have been helping a friend look for a stone between .1-.2 carats), you probably will not be able to afford anything much larger than a .1 (assuming you do not want to spend more than Tiffany's pricing). Something like a carat or 1.0 would run $5000 USD or more (could be less or more depending on quality of the stone).

Below is a link to an example of a necklace you may find in the US. Please look at the stone's characteristics as well.

In my humble opinion, I think you should save up a little more and get a larger DBTY necklace from Tiffany's. As many purse forum members agree ( there are threads that discuss this), Tiffany's tends to do this collection better than other jewelers.

This is what I would buy. And then I would not bother upgrading later. Subtle but still present.

in the .08, .12 or .14 size.

You're not likely to find someone able to make it cheaper at that size.

I agree. Personally, I own the .14 in yellow gold, and it is great for layering. If you purchase the yellow gold or rose gold, it is a little less expensive than the platinum.

If you wanted silver, then go for .07 DBTY= http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/ite...323338+101323351-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t&fromgrid=1

Agree. Tiffany does the best with DBTY. I especially like the gold and the platinum. Silver, not so much. The bezel is not as delicate as the other metal.

Thanks a lot for all your help! I think I'll save up putting a little aside every now and then until I can afford one of the slightly larger Tiffany ones. I've done a bit of research into the bezel and I've heard lots of worrying things about other manufacturers, but will keep my eye out for anything which looks good.

It also seems that they're more expensive in the UK, 0.05 is the same price as the US 0.07. I think that to satisfy my need for one, I may get a colour by the yard for now.

Sorry, I'm quite confused myself. I definitely don't want a large stone, I want one which is reasonably small. I'm slightly worried that the Tiffany one I can afford will be too small, so I'm looking to see if I can get a slightly bigger (but not large) stone from a different brand, rather than paying for the Tiffany name.

Got it:smile1: I love Tiffany, but for some things, I really do think that you can get more for your money by shopping elsewhere. I think Tiffany's DBTY are lovely, but I'd definitely shop around first. I wish that I could be of more help, but I'm in the US.

I had one made with a diamond I owned and it cost me $100 CDN to make the 18K gold bezel. The jeweler used a sterling silver necklace I owned and attached them so in the long run it cost very little to make. If you want a small diamond, I would see a jeweler and ask them to quote you. You may be surprised to know how reasonable it is.

I strongly suggest you check out AHKAH's designs, it's a Japanese jewelry brand which owns a couple stores in the UK, their delicate designs are quite famous, and very high quality, I bet you can find one thing or two that you really like~

here's their Liberty website: http://www.liberty.co.uk/fcp/categorylist/designer/ahkah
And of course Japanese website (where you can find all their stores' addresses): http://www.ahkah.jp

I don't know about UK, but here in the US, a lot jewelry stores offer upgrades, this is an advantage of buying from local stores I guess.
