Tried on a couple Rolex today

How about a nice Tag watch or like others have suggested Omega, if I didn't own a Rolex I would definitely buy one of these other brands.

The Tissot Pr 100 has a very similar model looks wise. Roman numerals, silver dial, date. It is on my bday wish list. It has gotten pretty good reviews on watch forums. I believe it comes in both a Swiss quartz or automatic movement. MSRP on the Swiss quartz is $295.

I wore a swatch as my getting used to a watch watch. Every time I take it out for a beach day, it's still on the right time!

When I was looking for a watch that wasn't a Rolex (because my husband wanted to buy me a watch but thought Rolex was too cliche) I found an omega thinking it would be cheaper. It was $12,000.

Have you also looked at vintage Rolex pieces? Especially the DateJusts are way better priced and personally I like the older pieces much better than the new ones.

Not really. Omega is a big step above TAG Heuer in terms of quality and movements.

We have the same taste in Rolex styles, as I also prefer that style watchband and bezel and a silver face with Romans (only difference is I like no date on a watch). Would you consider pre-owned or ebay for it? I've seen them for very reasonable prices in that style. I like this style because it's more under the radar to me.

Funny that we like the same rolex style bec. we also wear the same style engagement ring (similar carat size too lol) and wedding band. I've never posted my pics but my ring is 1.17ct round set in a Tiffany style 6 prong knife setting worn with a thin channel half band.
