I am about to leave on a two week trip--involving some adult time in NYC and some kid time--looking at colleges with my teenager and visiting family. My other kids will be with us too for the second week of the trip. Trip involves airplane travel, car travel and a different hotel almost every night.

Questions--would you or have you taken your MG bags on a trip like this? What would your ideal travel bag or combo be? I really love my bags and would hate to leave them home alone for so long lol. And it seems silly to bring bags I don't like as much.

Thoughts?

I just got back from a long weekend and specifically left my large tote at home. I transferred out of it because I didn't want to unnecessarily scratch it up during the flight, dragging it through airport security and against my suitcase, etc. It just seems too perilous to me.

I don't see why not; I would probably either bring the large bucket or lady bag, just because it would be nice to have the extra room (that a mini can't provide) and the opening isn't big (like a tote). Bags are made to be used :D

I'm actually going on an African safari in September and am considering bringing my moss bucket!

I agree. Mini too small, tote too open. Have fun!

I have been taking my black/flamma tote on many of my trips. I took it to Costa Rica and Washington DC. This tote has also been my work bag since March. Since it gets scratched up but I don't think it is too bad and isn't noticeable unless you look carefully. I guess I don't believe in babying my bags. I want them to be functional and durable.

i would bring the large bucket or the lady bag on a trip like this. the ability to close the bag up makes it more secure for travel. and, both bags can be worn over the shoulder or cross body.

in the past, i have used my proenza schouler medium ps1, chloe marcie crossbody, givenchy pandora, and chloe paraty when traveling. if i am visiting friends/family and going out to dinner, i want to have a nice bag with me! and on the plane, i will bring a large canvas or foldable nylon tote and place my bag in the tote so that it doesn't have to touch the floor of the plane!

have a great time in ny & visiting colleges!

I agree about the lady bag - it's a great day to night bag since you can wear it on your shoulder during the day, then carry it as a satchel at night when you're going to dinner. I often travel with a large tote, then put either a bucket or another bag inside of it so that I have two bags on my trip :)

I have travelled with my mini bucket without any problems. If the trip will involve a lot of walking, I would prefer to minimize what I carry around all day (=shoulder pain). However, when I go on the plane, I put my mini bucket, or whichever nice bags I bring, inside another large canvas tote (non-MG) so I don't have to worry about putting it on the floor, under the seat, etc. In your case, I agree with others that the Lady is probably the best choice! Have fun!

Thanks everyone. Great advice. I think I will either go with my lady-bag or a tote/mini combo. Funny I'm more worried about what bag combo to take than my wardrobe!

Heading out tomorrow with my ladybag in camello/dolly, a mini cross body for evening and a canvas mini bucket just in case I need something more rugged. I appreciate all the advice! [emoji177]
