NOT a fan of the croc embossed espresso d-string.....my avatar pic is the one that was in the original fall line photos and I was coveting it like a crazy person. They changed it to add a top leather strip, but I thought I would try it anyway, especially since I have no espresso bags. Well, the top strip is the least of its problems. First, it is HUGE...and not in a good way. Even if it slouches, which would take time because the leather is REALLY stiff, it would be a giant pile of leather and with the croc, I think it would be visually overwhelming. Much bigger than Phoebe, and with more of an stiff oblong shape at the bottom. But, more importantly, the leather looks completely fake and plasticky....not in a good saffiano way, but in a "really cheap bag masquerading as a good bag" kind of way. The tassels don't feel like nice leather either, my tassel fobs are nicer than these. On my arm, it goes from armpit to hip like a giant N/S tote, but that is a LOT of dark croc leather covering my entire side (and I am 5'6" so I'm not petite). I am pretty diverse in my leathers and styles, I have Haley's, Sophia's, Chelsea's, Phoebes, pebbled, smooth, Legacy, Madison, saffiano, all sizes from clutch to giant tote, you name it....and this one stands out as the worst
Coach bag I've ever bought. It is going back immediately, and thank goodness I hated the ridiculously expensive bag. My apologies to anyone who has bought it and loved it, I don't mean to disrespect your choices! Note that someone else posted pics of the garnet d-string reveal and it looked gorgeous, soft and slouchy, and made me want it, so the smooth leather is a much better choice on this one IMHO....but someone else posted pics of the cognac croc and hated it and I have to agree completely. Maybe I expected too much or set my sights too high, but at that $1200 price, even with discount after my PCE, I would have to LOOOOOOOOOVE this bag the minute I saw it....not say "yuck" or even "hmmmm....", you know? Sorry Coachies! (And again please accept my apologies if you love this bag, everyone in these forums is so supportive of each other and I don't want to detract from that but wanted to share my thoughts since this one is new and super costly!!
