Hi- i'm taken with the new Town bag which i've seen on Bal UK website. I intended to buy a City till I saw this. My friend reckons it might be for a younger lady (I'm 51 years young) What do you all think? I've already got a 2007 Paprika City. Also has anyone seen a Town in London stores as the website only has Sang or black and i dont know if the black is truly classic or adds to the rockchick look. Thanks.

I am going to eventually get a Town and I am over 40 - there really is no age limit on any of the Balenciaga bags - I feel they are all classic styles. The town is a great style - bigger than the first and can also be worn crossbody which I really like. 51 is the new 31 I say!

Heck no. I think all Balenciaga styles are suitable for all ages.

I had a City and just picked up a Town. As a shoulder bag, I think the Town is a better choice than the city. Crossbody is great: the strap doesn't fall off, you can get into it without taking it off your shoulder and it doesn't swing around if you are reaching for things. I didn't buy it from Balenciaga London but I did call them about it and they and quite a few in stock (this was about six weeks ago).

Balenciaga's work for any age! It would be best if you could try the town and city on in the store first though. I thought I would really like the town when I saw pictures of it but when I tried it on, it just didn't feel right. If you can't find a store near you that carries them I'd just order from Balenciaga.com and try them out at home. I don't know about the UK but in the US they cover your return shipping so it's pretty easy!

Hmmm... I have both styles; they are very different. The city is chic. The town is more casual, worn cross-body (can convert to evening by removing strap).

I don't think that the town is any less chic than the city. It's based on the classic Bal shape, fits more than a first, is less square than the city, perhaps a little more feminine. The main difference is size (a little smaller than a city) and the long strap of course. This makes it very different compared to the city and the first. I see no reason why you couldn't wear the town at your age, it's more about hardware/colour choice I feel. And of course unless you double the strap the town is best worn cross body so it depends on whether you want that.

I think Town is a great style for any age.

Normally, I'm a firm RH girl. However, I have a Canard Town in RGGH.

Like viewwing, I do think the RRGH on mine makes it looks a tiny bit more grown-up, which is why I purchased it - to provide a bit of variety with my other RH Towns. Plus, I thought the RRGH looked amazing against the Canard, whereas the RH looked a bit flat for my liking... however, I still wear it with my jeans, T's and boots, and I think it still looks nice.

My Black RH Town and Sang RH Town look really carefree with the tassels.

I think there maybe no "young/old" issue with these bags, rather more what you wear with them.

My grandmother, who's very trim, taut and absolutely un-enhanced terrific at 88, rocks her RH Black First, but when she wanted to get a Town, we thought she looked nicer getting a RGGH Town (because its a bit bigger on her frame - she's 40kg and stands about 155cm. Plus, she's really, really, fine-framed, so the tassels on the Town would overwhelm her look).

I can't decide whether to go for a City or a Town either! I was about to buy the City and the sales assistant showed me the Town, a style I hadn't seen before. Now I am completely lost! Pls Help!

I have a Miu Miu crossbody bag of the same size as the City and I love that MiuMiu. Question is if the City will be too 'similar'? The Town is after all a little smaller - but is it too small for everyday use?

Grateful for advice!

Mstroems

Hi, the Town and City are similar sizes, but the City is def bigger. If you want an everyday bag, then get the City. The City will always be considered a classic.

I'm using my Town rgh for weekends and for short trips. On a daily, I would rather use a City.
