I adore the Town and have done a lot of complaining here about the Town strap - even the new 2013 so-called adjustable one- being way too long for me as a petite women. But I had to share that I finally, with much trial and error using test straps, found a place that I can send my Town straps to and they come back so perfectly finished off at the ends that you can not even tell they have been shortened. They "melt" the sides of the ends and stitch it back up exactly like the original. The price is reasonable and the turn around time is very quick. I am not sure I am supposed to mention private businesses here so if anyone needs this information just pm me. I am so happy with the results and I now have had all my Towns shortened and what a difference- they are now perfect for my short height and they feel so much better. I think they look better, too, but I know that is a strictly personal opinion so I don't mean to say all petite women should get their straps shortened. I know some of you love the long strap.

One other interesting point- the individual Town straps can vary in length by as much as one and a half to two inches depending on the color and the season.

I'm considering getting a town but didn't think that hard about the strap being too long on my smaller frame.

How tall are you that you felt you needed to have the strap shortened?

I am 5' 2" if that helps but I do like to be able to wear the town on my shoulder as well as crossbody.

The 2013 straps are shorter. I tried it on and I can wear it on the first or second hole. The 2012's even though they were made adjustable were still too long for a super-shorty like me...lol. Downside is really tall ladies may find the strap too short even on the last hole.

That's good to know- I think the adjustable ones I have are 2012. And the others are all the older ones pre-2012.

I went to the Balenciaga boutique today and tried the Town with the adjustable straps. I am 4'11" and on the shortest length the Town it sits just below my hip. I am assuming this is the 2013 Town with 3 adjustment holes. I'm new to Balenciaga so correct me if I'm wrong. :)

So it sounds like they may have gotten it right for the 2013 straps. Did it feel like the correct length for you or were you wishing there had been another adjustment hole or two? The older straps had the bag hanging down way below my hip.

Quite a few people have pm'd me for the name of the leather place for both Town and Velo straps so I hope it works out well for everyone.

For me it's actually okay.

I forgot to mention I didn't put the Town on cross body. I actually put it on my shoulder and it hanged straight down and fell just a little below my hip on the shortest length.

So I am pretty sure if I wore it cross body it would sit a little higher making it perfect.

I'm pretty sure most of you are taller than me since I'm only 4'11". So I'm sure the straps would be better for majority of you.

Please tell me where this place is! I need!!! but I don't have private messaging enabled yet on this forum. Can you PM me instead? Please???

I have the opposite problem, with the new town strap being too short for me! I just got the latest fall anthracite town bag from Erica, the strap is so much shorter than past season! Problem for me is I'm tall and need the full 22.5" drop for it to look right crossbody! :(
