Thats outragous. The store should have called their best customers first. Or not even announced it. Word of mouth would have sold their bags. I suppose they thought that the women lined up for the bags would do other shopping too - but it turned out that they had to close early and lost any other sales they could have have.

Should have posted them on ebay with a buy it now price of what they were selling them for.

So ladies.. how do you think this expeience was drive by handbag lust? Are bags just so huge right now that all women want a designer name? Is it for the status or actually because a woman really love the brand or both??

That's actually very scary, but then I live in Cincinnati and can anyone say "The Who concert". You know I went to a similar sale where people were actually hurt. One lady ripped a wallet out of my hand. I'm not kidding! With all of that said I would still be right there in line. You never know!

That's a good question Megs. I think people love quality, but also the issue of status can't be ignored. Some people today think that class is indicated by job, where an individual obtained his/her education, some think it's in fashion and accessories. I moved to a big city from a smaller town/city, and now I'm living in a land of consumption where lots of people have Harvard Degrees, wear $300 jeans, $500 shoes, and $2000 bags, and those items give no indication of whether an individual has class. How people treat others, how they give back to society, and how they respect those around them shows whether or not they have class. I've been to work-related dinners with many well-heeled folks who were kind, and others who were condescending and holier-than-thou. Respect is not bought, it's earned, and class comes from the same place. It's just such a shame that people were hurt in this incident and that the store couldn't maintain control of the situation! I hope that everyone is now ok, and that they have learned what can happen when things get out of control.....

This reminded me of the time when Star Wars Episode One toys first came out at Toys R' Us and my little brother dragged me to wait in line overnight just so he can get his little hands on some limited edition toys. And omg... just like how those mad women acted towards those handbags, we had moms, pops and kids fighting their way through the mad crowds of toy-hungry people just so they can get a Darth Maul action figure!!! I remember I got my hair pulled and squashed between a bunch of sweaty people. It was a very unique and actually FUN experience back then since I was younger and more fit. But right now... there's NO WAY I'm going to another big sale like that. That's just plain crazy. Or maybe I should wear a full body armor suit next time... :suspiciou You never know... this is probably the only time you can physically harm someone without getting sue. lol Everyone assumes the risk of getting hurt when they go to these places.
