Top Handle v. Shoulder Bag

I've tried to do top handle bags, but in the end I sell them. They make it difficult to carry stuff and leave marks on the crook of my arm. Shoulder bag or crossbody fits my lifestyle best.

I like both. I have brought more shoulder bags than top handles in my life. As purse lovers, many of us carried purses when we were teens, preteens, and younger. As a preteen I carried a small satchel. Then I switched to shoulder bags. I made a change about four years ago after falling in love with the satchel shape again. I asked myself if I would love to carry a bag by hand, and then I remembered how I loved carrying my small satchel as a preteen. The bag just needs to be not heavy for me to carry. My threshold for carrying heavy bags is not low. I carry my satchels by the elbow when I need my hands free. Shoulder bags are the best for hands free activities of course.

I prefer shoulder bags. I carry everything but the kitchen sink, so top handles won't work for me.

I can't do top handle only but that is because of lifestyle. Doesn't work well for city life with the extensive walking around. Back when I lived in the burbs I could but always preferred it came with other carrying options.
