I have a B25 dark blue nilo with PHW that was given to me by my mother that she bought from a reseller. Out of whim, I decided to put this up in an online marketplace for a ridiculous, RIDICULOUS price (like 2x the price my mom got it for) while the commission was low. I didn't think I would sell it in this lifetime, but alas, someone actually bought it at the ridiculous price. Now I am sitting on the floor wondering if I should let it go or keep it. I've honestly only worn it twice or thrice and it's a lot of money, but at the same time, it's my only croc bag, it was given to me by my mother and I don't really need the money.

A group of us always warn people off buying to pass down, the temptation to cash-in is often great when faced with items outside the next gen's comfort zone or aesthetic.

Well, you must have listed it for a reason.

Where's the bag? Where's the buyer?

Personally, I would never sell something like this over the Net especially since you seem to be in the UK and it has a very limited market. Everywhere outside the UK needs a new CITES and won't get through customs. Just working from the many experiences, the usual scenario, you'll have to refund the buyer and you'll have to work very hard to get your bag back - if at all with no recourse from the usual agents.

I inherited things from my mother too. I don't think you need to keep everything but a few well chosen pieces. Whist she was still alive they just sat around, now she's gone I value them much more than as just things. My grandmother's bags (I sadly hardly met her) have been taken with me to milestone events and it's like all my family are with me.

Time for a dose of skepticism, I’m afraid. A 2010 used croc B25 is not worth anywhere near the $99,500 you’ve sold it for. IMO this is a scam of some sort so beware.

Also, reading your prior posts, your mother specifically bought this bag for you as a grande finale HG to your collection. I’d personally have trouble selling it given that sentiment.

That’s the thing! It’s the sentiment of “oh my mom wanted me to have something truly special to remember her by” vs “oh I could put this money into an investment fund for my son”

It’s just way too good to be true. The bag is worth, like $45,000 max (which is why your mother was able to buy it for less than that originally just a couple of years ago). Way too big of a risk, especially if it’s an international purchase.

Looking at the username of the buyer, it does get my scam alert tingling? It’s basically @user92683736?

If something seems too good to be true, it *is* too good to be true. This has been proven over and over again with Hermes resale (in both directions: a bag being sold for way too cheap? It’s going to be a fake bag. Some buyer randomly offers way more than they should? It’s a scammer). It shouldn’t be tingling your scam alert senses, it should be blaring shouting screaming from the rooftop.

How confident are you that you won’t end up with neither the bag nor the money? Especially if it’s going to cross country borders?

By the way even if you sell the bag at a fair market value - maybe half of what your “sale” is right now - it’s still plenty of money. I’d say the real options here are to keep to bag or to sell it safely via a more trustworthy method. And there’s plenty argument to be made for either of those but those are orthogonal to what you should be doing for your current situation.

Is this the B25 that sold on VC? If so, I wouldn’t be worried at all of it being a scam since the bag will be sent to VC, and the sale is finalized once they authenticate it. The buyer has already been charged the price. Also, usernames on VC are automatically generated with numbers unless someone changes it, so that also doesn’t indicate anything.

As for whether or not to sell it, I too would be conflicted, and the decision is a personal one that only you know what is the best decision.
