TJ Maxx and Marshalls fitting rooms still closed

shopping is just not much fun these days. TJ Maxx and Marshalls are the closest stores to me (and a crap Macys). they sometimes have some cute tops or jeans but fitting rooms are closed and I won't buy clothes w/o trying on. NR has their fitting rooms open but apparently a lot of people are ordering online and a lot of people are returning things. Last time I went in there I had to wait in a long line to return some things. they had one line for online pickup and returns. Yesterday I ordered something from them and after I did it, I remembered what I went through last time. hoping when I go to pick this new order up they'll have a dedicated person for online pickup.

Hate to say it but for some reason the TJ Maxx near me has long lines to pay (with full staffing of registers) so they don't appear to be hurting from the closed dressing rooms.

this can't be the way of the future. I don't accept it just as I don't accept the idea of masks long term.

I prefer to try on clothes at home. I usually buy two sizes of the same item and return what doesn't fit. If it's a coat or jacket I will try that on in a store. What's stopping me from ordering online from a certain discount retailer is they are pulling the merchandise off the selling floor and believe me I have seen some pretty disgusting worn and reticketed items that was returned back on the selling floor. Looks like a lot of merchandise shipped out to the customer is not factory fresh.

Same here.
I also buy and return. I do not like to be rushed and lightings and mirrors are factors.

As far as I know, most stores have fitting rooms open now. Wonder why this company is being so over-cautious. Frustrating to me because I'd like to shop for jeans. Most of the time they don't have what I want but sometimes you can find something great. I'm not even going to bother going in there until the fitting rooms are re-opened. they have to be losing business.
Seems to me if you have to repeat going to the store and return you will buy more. I am a big Marshalls shopper and hate returning things, but I do often. All other stores I've been to have dressing rooms open. I know Target just opened their dressing rooms at my local store.

I just try on over my clothing, works fine for most tops and dresses. I did this often even before COVID as I was just too lazy to go to the fitting room or didn't want to get all undressed. I wear dresses pretty often and will just try pants on behind a clothing rack or in a corner if I happen to have a dress on that day. I tried a pair of jeans on at NR when they first reopened last year over the jeans I had on, worked out fine.
