I didn't even know what a tin cup necklace was and had to go find a picture. Now my question is why it is called a "tin cup" necklace.

Ok, I just found this...

Designed especially for actress Renee Russo by jewelry designer Wendy Brigode, the tin cup pearl necklace (named after the beloved movie) sparked a worldwide trend

Renee wore the necklace through most of the movie. Here's a pic:

I think the original was made with large baroque pearls.

I think it's classic (for girls of all ages). I have 2 with the gold chain and small pearls. Then I have one from last year, from David Yurman, it's about 60" long, small pearls with silver chain. I'll take pix tomorrow if I can remember.

I would really like a white pearl/yellow gold one in 16 inch that I could wear every day with the cross I wear. i would love one with grey pearls, but probably out of my price range.

Thanks for the info ladies!

I LOVE that movie - and the necklace!! I do think it's a classic - and Renee Russo was what, 39-45 in the movie and she made it famous! Definitely go for it ... they are beautiful! I had one for a while and loved it as a lighter alternative to a string of pearls! :)
