tiffany's polishing question

maintenance on anything with diamond is free, all silver jewelleries without stone/diamonds are done with a fee. this is at the toronto locations.

That's interesting how it's different in Canada/Toronto. From my understanding in the SoCal locations, all precious metals like platinum and gold are serviced for free (dipping, polishing, cleaning, etc.) whereas silver items even with diamond(s) (such as my open heart ring w/dia) are not.

I think you are right, kohl_mascara. I think that I am getting special treatment, because they shortened my RTT oval tag necklace, made sure I got the extra links back, AND polished it up so it looked like new (so they got any scratches out) for free. I was impressed with the customer service at my Tiffany's.
Actually... I had gotten the screwball horseshoe-shaped keychain for Christmas, and I lost a ball! I was so upset. I went into Tiffany's and they replaced the ball on the spot free of charge.
I love my store's customer service!

Wow that's awesome! I wish the service at the different Tiffany locations were more consistent. I feel like what you've experienced keeps you coming back for more and that is good business practice! I only got my full heart ring cleaned for free once because I was picking out an e-ring and the SA was trying to butter me up LOL.

I am not going to lie, to me, this kind of customer service is a rarity nowadays. But, it REALLY made my day. I am going to write a letter to the manager and let them know how wonderful all of their SA's have been treating me.
The only time I get good customer service like that is when I go to Starbucks lol!

That is a really nice gesture!! I'm sure your SA(s) will appreciate it. Maybe it'll translate to a promotion or bonus in their future :D

Insinuating that another tPFer's item is not an authentic Tiffany piece because she must pay for polishing is very rude. Many Tiffany owners know that certain metals are polished and cleaned free of charge, such as gold and platinum. Silver items, on the other hand, are not included in the free services (well, not anymore). If your jewelry are all silver, maybe your SA is giving you special treatment, but just because you get yours done for free doesn't mean those who must pay don't have Tiffany pieces.

i'm sorry if you thought that I was implying that her jewellery was a fake Tiffany piece. I didn't mean it that way. What I was implying was that maybe her piece was from a different jeweller, not that it was fake.

I had 3 pieces cleaned. It cost me $15 each. It was three bracelets and they look great! I would definitely do it again. It is worth it they do it in the store and they look brand new. I had to leave it for 2 days but it was worth it.

I went to my local Tiffany's yesterday for some repairs. They wanted a flat $40 per piece for a polish (like new). I was really surprised because I thought it was like $15-$25 each. The CS rep said it is $15 each for an in house cleaning. But to send it out for a full polish is $40 each, regardless of what it is. I decided to pass bc I could not see spending the same to polish my SS 1837 lock as the 10mm bead bracelet (both were purchased preloved). I'll just live with the worn in look until it gets much worse.

I also dropped off my *new to me* SS blue enamel clasping link bracelet. I bought it preloved, but it is too short. I need 1 more section of links and a few of the clasping links were stretched out and wobbly. I believe the previous owners(s) inserted their charms right at the clasping part, instead of at the solid part, so if a charm pulled, the clasp pulled out of shape.
I'm waiting for a reply on an estimate for the extra link, service, and polishing. I hope it doesn't come out to be too much, or else I could have bought the bracelet new for the same price as the preloved one plus the repairs.

I went into a Tiffany's and was just browsing and the SA was very helpful and friendly. I asked what cleaning services they do and I was wearing my Tiffany necklace at the time and she said she can polish it for me there and then. It came out like new and she didn't charge me for it. This is in the UK, not sure if it is like this in all stores or if she was a very friendly SA.

Hi all, I have a burning question about T&Co's polishing service and couldn't find an answer when googling it. Hope someone on this forum can help with.

When I brought my new to me necklace with a lapis stone to T&Co for polishing, I was told that it does not polish jewelry with gemstones other than diamonds.

Although T&Co cleaned the chain portion for me before I left the store, I am worried as I recently bought a preloved necklace with a sapphire that I intend to send it for polishing so that it looks as good as new! Has anyone faced this problem? If yes, how were you able to restore your jewelry?
