Tiffany vs Cartier, white gold vs. platinum

This is such a basic, timeless style. I'm not sure why you're wanting the designer label attached to it. For your money, you could get a higher grade, larger, better cut, and more beautiful diamond from a reputable independent jeweler.

Second this. I'd urge you do some research into other reputable sellers for this piece and see what you could get for your budget.

I decided to buy the Tiffany! Thanks so much to everyone for the input! I was about to buy the Cartier but decided to take one last look at Tiffany to make sure I was making the right decision. But Tiffany was the better deal and the Cartier chain was too think for the size of the diamond. The Tiffany chain is just dainty enough, making the diamond look bigger. Overall, I think I made the right choice. Although I have to say, if I could afford a bigger diamond, Cartier would've been my choice. But for this, I think Tiffany was the better choice. I know I probably would've gotten a better deal from a reputable seller but I didn't really know anyone here. Again, thank u soo much to everyone for giving your two cents. :)

I really want to buy a solitaire diamond necklace, as per my previous posts, and I've narrowed down my choices to Cartier or Tiffany. I think I will go for the round prong setting as opposed to the bezel. Tiffany's DBY bezel setting has a pointy back which really irritates my skin.

So if you were to choose, would u buy a solitaire diamond necklace from Cartier or Tiffany? Tiffany is set in platinum, Cartier is in white gold. If Cartier's was set in platinum, I would definitely get Cartier. But when I spoke to the lady earlier, she said that they only carry it in white gold. This worries me a little bit because I intend to wear this necklace everyday. And assuming that I never take it off, ie sleep and shower with it, will white gold withstand that kind of wear? I'm afraid that if I get the Cartier, God forbid the diamond will fall off after all this wear. Help! :confused1:
I have gifted my daughter with the medium cartier de legers , after careful consideration , I went for pink gold and medium diamond £1030IMG_3056.JPG , now the chain is cut different and it sparkles really nice, also the setting of the diamond does not have mickey mouse ears , and the fact your can wear it at 2 lengths is a bonus. Too add to this the motif on the back of the chain is really nice when wearing your hair up. Every time she wears this necklace one is drawn by the sparkle of the diamond and the glistening chain. Well worth the money compared to Tiffany . The image is taken using a close up lens but believe me it sure sparkles to the point that in meeting clients constantly stare at the necklace
