Hi,

I have a lot of big stone from my grandma from 3 ct upwards to 20 ct (some are still with moms) that I want to set. However Tiffanys refused to set the stone into a ring/pendant etc.
Can anyone tell me which premium store will set my diamonds ?

Yes it is. I just dont see why that should be a problem since I am going to pay an arm and a leg for the ring/pendant set anyway.

I do not want to buy new diamonds as I inherited a LOT !

I am into property now and hope that my kid will have both lots of diamonds and properties :) Such spoiled brats...

They pride themselves on their solitaires, I can understand that they'd only set the stones they sold and certified.
I don't know if any major brand store would do it to be honest.
Why do you need it to be a premium/major branded store?

they won't set them anyhow. . . it's understandable IMO.
If something happened to your stone while they were setting it they'd be responsible and they also make more $ by selling the solitaires themselves.
Plus, if they have their name on it, they want to maek SURE it's a stone they had certified.

They range between D to F colour and they are very high quality due to my grandma used to trade these so she keeps the best ones. I want it to be set at high end store due to the value of some of them and I believe the quality and strenght of high end store setting will be superior.

Actually, she has many many of those. I think maybe about 5 around that size and several smaller ones around mostly > 3 cts. After dividing them between cousins, aunts, uncles, ect about 10 people getting 1 set (ring & e-ring) of 3 cts each, the rest are given to me and sis since she loved us best. I think we still have about 5 safe deposit full of em. But I will NEVER sell them except maybe if my life is threatened which is unlikely. They are family heirloom and I think that I am just a guardian to pass them on to the next generation. Me and my hubby is in property and we started from the bottom.

I was not really into jewellery nor was I very knowledgeable but I want to build on my knowledge so I can understand and appreciate these magnificent stones better.

Will post pictures when I managed to get them out of the safe deposit.

They told me they will never set a stone that they didn't sell in any mounting.

I wholeheartedly agree with the Leon Mege reference, though he's very...shall we say...short with folks, and has his own opinions, and does not like hearing yours. ;)

I thought cartier did settings for clients, maybe its just a one off for extremely valuable stones. I guess if you give them the 20 ct. they would be happy to do it.

That's provided if you are referring to a good quality diamond. A 20ct Topaz, for eg, would not interest them. Tiffany and Cartier will set something for you if you are asking them to set diamonds and gemstones that are rare (for its variety, quality and size) and exquisite.
