Tiffany legacy-Sapphire or Aquamarine?

I was wondering about durability. Is the aquamarine as fragile as a blue topaz? I do not plan on wearing everyday. I would probably alternate with my engagement ring.

Good question, I'm not sure how much more durable Sapphire is than Aquamarine but I've worn jewelry with both regularly and never had a problem with either, plus the setting in the legacy does not allow for much exposed stone. Okay, I just found a website awesomegems.com that give you hardness scales, durability, etc. of stones. It looks like topaz and aquamarine have a comparable "hardness" but the topaz has a poor durability while aquamarine has good so I would say it is more durable than blue topaz but slightly less durable than sapphire, I say go with the look you like best though.

Thanks again Lola24 for your expertise! I did not get to see them in person yet. Maybe today or tomorrow I can get to Tiffanys. I'm guessing that I will like the aquamarine more. While I'm responding to you, on another subject entirely, are you familiar with Hermes clic clac bracelets? Thanks to TPF, I've recently become interested in them as well!

I'm somewhat familiar with them, what are you interested in?? Honestly, all the metal Hermes bracelets are too big for me so I've given up on them, I tried on a clic clac for the last time last month and I asked twice if it was the absolute smallest size they made, the SA was even surprised how big it was and agreed it was no good on me...... I have a leather kelly bracelet that's also too big but I believe they come in sizes now, mine did not, but I think I can get it shortened if I really want, the leather being too big is easier to work with than the metal though IMO.

I tried on the PM and GM sizes of the thin (clic H) and the wide (clic clac) last night. In the wide size, I needed the PM - smaller circumference but in the thin size, the GM circumference was more comfortable. I am leaning toward a thin one with gold combo instead of palledium but unsure of which color again. Although I could do palledium because I have a mid-size stainless jubilee Rolex for left hand and the gold on the clic H would also work cause I also have the 2-tone ladies jubilee Rolex. So either one goes. I thought I liked the tomato color but could be talked into one of the blue greens or even black!

I'm not a big yellow gold person, but the clic clacs ARE quite pretty in yg color, personally I would go for the most versatile combo for my first one, and if you love it to death then go for a funkier combo for another one..... I always gravitate to the oranges and blues yet all the colors are great IMO, but like I said, since they don't work on my wrist I've given up. Good luck!

Thanks as always for your advice. Did you try both the clic H and clic clac? The clic H (thin one) definitely runs smaller than the clic clac. The SA noticed that on me last night. I needed the smaller fitting one in clic clac and the bigger fitting one in clic H. If the clic clac was too big for you, the clic H might work if you like it. I will look again at the blues and oranges in person and post again in a few days!

Yeah, all of their metal bracelets are too big, my wrist measures about 5 inches around and usually only childrens bracelets truly work well......saves me money though LOL.

My vote would be for sapphire, but I guess I'm biased because I have a sapphire engagement ring. I worried that it might be hard to wear a stronger"color" everyday at first, but I find the shade of blue goes nicely with just about everything. Please come back with pictures of whatever you get!

I went to Tiffanys and tried on the legacy rings. My favorite was the aquamarine even though it was a light colored one. I have the info written down on a card but I believe it was around 1.5 size and $7600. The sapphire was too dark for me but it was also beautiful.
