Tiffany charm bracelet questions

I didn't get locks on my charms. My charms are put on by Tiffany. I don't think they do all the charms with locks, I thought most of their charms were the ones where Tiffany have to put them onto the bracelet themselves.

Personally, I prefer the idea of no locks. It just makes the bracelet more neat. The locks make the charms way bigger.

I have just the basic bracelet without any charms on it (except for the standard RTT heart) because like one of the other posters mentioned I like the idea of a charm bracelet - but not the bulk. I think if I ever want to get another charm specifically for a bracelet, then I would buy a plain bracelet (doesn't have the RTT heart, you can get them for $145-ish) and just do a single charm per bracelet. Pricey I guess, if you like multiple charms... but I just wouldn't wear something that had a ton of things hanging off of it. That is just personal preference though. I put single charms on necklaces and then change them out.

As far as cleaning, I haven't had any problems with tarnishing and like other people mentioned I took mine into Tiffany to have links put back on it and they polished it up. It looked like new. I think I'm going to look into getting a cleaning cloth from them and I should be able to do whatever I need to do with my silver jewelry at home in the future. Their silver jewelry is pretty low maintenance in my experience... I am usually wearing a necklace or something from their silver line everyday and haven't had tarnishing issues.

I just got a silver necklace in the mail today so I guess I'll get to test drive it before getting the silver bracelet from Tiff's. I had some silver in high school but it got misplaced during a move so I never had it long enough to see how it held up. All my other jewelry is gold or fashion jewelry. From what everyone is describing though this doesn't seem too daunting to keep up.

I will add that I own over 50 pieces of Tiffany jewelry, many are silver bracelets- both charm and non charm. They wear very well. If you store them in the blue pouch, it does keep tarnish off longer. Basic jewelry cleaner from the drugstore can liven the piece up. I have never had to take my pieces back to Tiffany's for cleaning. This is because I have not had any tarnish or mark that I have not been able to take care of myself. Tarnex- the really stinky stuff for silver- is really strong and could work were a basic jewelry cleaner would not. Also, if you have a jewelry box that has a anti-tarnish lining- this helps to.

Tiffany silver wears fine over time. Of course it tarnishes, but that is easy to get rid of with some silver polish. I polish mine probably once or twice a year and it's fine. I could probably stand to do it a little more but oh well. I store all the pieces in the bags they come in, inside of a jewelry box, and that helps. I used to store some necklaces on a necklace tree and they tarnished really quickly.

I have the charm bracelet with three large charms on it. I had them all soldered on- do NOT skip this. I had one fall off in the trash and luckily I realized it and after searching high and low realized that was the only place it could be. I'm hoping to get a few smaller charms to put in between the big ones. I do agree it's a little chunky, so I usually only wear it in the winter with a sweater, it kind of keeps it from going all over the place as much.

I love it though, my family and DF are able to get my charms for special occasions, so it's really nice to think back on when I received each one.

I have a Tiffany charm bracelet - got it for Christmas 2009 and I've got two charms on it - the tiffany blue box and the tiffany cupcake. It also comes with the heart charm when you buy it. I love it!!! Mine is perfect - and I've never had to wipe it down or anything, it doesn't tarnish at all. If you get a charm, you bring it into Tiffany, they take it for a few days and when it's returned to you, they've it all shined up nice n new again. I would defo recommend getting one

This might sound weird, but I got my heart charm bracelet in September 2009 and I have two charms on it too - the blue box and the cupcake.

We're bracelet twins! LOL

Mu husband bought me the round tag type charm bracelet back in 2001. I don't wear it very often and it just gets stored in my jewelery box. The bracelet it's self doesn't have any tarnish, but the round tag does have a few brownish spots. I should probably try cleaning it.
even though it's not tarnished, wearing it everyday 'back then' it did get "dull" rather fast..just scratches and dings and what not.
My wrist is 5 inches and I just attached the clasp up on one of the links.

I own a Tiffany heart charm bracelet and have had it for about 10 years. This past Christmas my husband gave me one of the Love Notes Charm that say "I Love You". I took it to Tiffany to have them put it on my heart charm braclet and it is on the 5th link from the tiffany heart charm. Tiffany CS did the work and for free. When I picked up my bracelet, it was shined and polised and it looked brand spanking new! I love the way it looks and I am glad I had them put the love notes charm on the bracelet I already own. Looks amazing!

The locks are a collection and they are actual charms, circle, heart, box and letters. They have a looping lock on top that swings open. The 'clasp' is the ring that lets you move any charm around and fits any charm, it looks like a large spring ring that would be on the end of a bracelet.

I'm bumping this thread becasue I just got a charm bracelet as part of my Mother's Day gift. DH got me a silver charm bracelet and two of the letter lock charms that pull & swing open (one letter for the first name of each of our two children). It's a bit heavy for me though and the letter lock charms add quite a bit of weight on my tiny wrists.
I'm thinking of exchanging it for the silver charm bracelet with the heart tag and having them custom engrave the two initials on the single heart charm. I'd like to add a charm in rose gold too (like the dove charm). Do they list the rings that fit any charm (that merekat703 mentioned in the above post) on the web site? I searched and couldn't find it. Also, will Tiffany shorten the bracelet? I need about 3 links removed.

That's such a sweet Mother's Day present. I agree with the lock charms being heavy compared to the other charms, so an engraved heart is a great alternative.

I don't know about the rings used for the charms, so I can't answer that questions. I remember reading about them on the boards and I think they're around $15? Maybe if you called CS you could order through them.

Yes, Tiffany will shorten the bracelet for free. I think depending on where you're located it'll take about two weeks because they send it to the 5th Ave NYC store.
