Wow, sorry about your horrible experience, that is beyond rude and should be reported. I have never encountered this issue at my local boutique. I am there so often (I don't always leave with anything) and have carried various brands, they all know me by name and I know them. I do have a particular SA I deal with and it's known to all. I feel very fortunate after hearing of some of your experiences.

I worked at Macy's and would go to the MK store to see styles we didn't have in-store. The manager at my local store said that I should buy them there when I remarked I was having trouble tracking down a bag I'd ordered from my store. I told her I could get it for so much less at my work. (It's my beloved Susannah).

Fast forward to my Tan Hamilton that had a handle with the threads coming out. She said they wouldn't send it to be repaired, even though I'd spoken with someone else there who was happy to have me come back with it so I could send it in. She said that's what happens when you don't buy it at the boutique.

I was steaming!!!!! 😠😠😠😠 😡😡 I asked her if MK didn't stand behind their products no matter where they were bought. I walked out of the store. Then I thought, I wonder if she would say that I'd she didn't know I bought it at Macy's. She said she still would (yeah right).

I called CS and the agent asked for the name of the manager of the store. He also sent me an order form to send my bag in to have it repaired.

I no longer work at Macy's, but I still shop that mall, and when I go in that store, darned if she doesn't act like I don't exist!

Glad to get that off my chest! Been carrying it around for 8 months, lol

That's a shame to hear stories of poor encounters with sales associates. :(

I like MK partly because I have a lot of fun in the boutique checking out all the items. I do get overwhelmed when there are a lot of SAs and they are interested in showing me items rather than letting me browse. But for the most part, I have a lovely time and get the immediate help I need. I think MK can be a very busy store so they have more sales associates working at a time than many other boutique stores. When I get the most SAs coming up to me it feels like they have just finished helping someone else and are afraid I have been ignored. When in actuality, the first sales associate is giving me the space I need, while being ready to help with questions.

I have never carried an MK bag into a store and have still gotten plenty of compliments on my purses. Some genuine, and some probably just to be friendly. I usually visit Kate Spade before MK, so on the occasion I have a purchase with me they are often curious to find out what I bought.

I had an amazing SA help me today. She only mentioned the $50 off $250, so no pressuring to spend. We looked at a lot of stuff together. I am very indecisive since I live several hours from a store and dont get to browse often. I settled on a necklace and a medium selma. I knew about the sale before going into the store, so as I was checking I out, I asked what I would need to reach $500 if I bought the other necklace I wanted. She managed to find a sale item I hadnt considered (or turned down) that put me at $500.60. That is some serious skills by her to get me maximum value. I was very impressed. I spent over half an hour shopping and chatting with her about hard rock/metal music and my platform boots. A lot of fun indeed.

Every store is different and sometimes it is just a bad day or time, or they can tell you arent wanting to do more than browse. Later today, I went into a different boutique (in another city I passed through on my long drive home). They are usually very attentive but after greeting me, they pretty much left me alone to quickly browse to see if there was anything else summery lingering in the sale section. (I love bright colors). Another time it might have felt cool or standoffish, but it was what I needed since I was tired and still had a couple hours to drive.

I read the entire thing, let it out girl! The number of stories I have about horrible customer service, I always wonder why I go back. It did however help me a couple years back when working for an affiliated store carrying the brand - I could relate on that front with customers and it helped bring that rapport. It also improved my service skills - I just did the opposite of what they did! The sad thing is I'll probably be posting a reveal within the next week.

On a brighter note, has anyone taken advantage of this sale? Post your purchases and push me to get to my nearest store over the weekend..only for me to come home and make my purchases online or over the phone due to reasons stated above UNLESS I meet an amazing SA..

so true and it will definitely vary on the time and day, because it means different SA are on. That said it's disappointing to read these stories, it hurts the brand to have stores behave this way, of coarse in the US since department stores carry the brand there are other places my country? other than online and buying out of country your stuck with the boutiques.

WOW! I'm so sorry you all have had such terrible experiences shopping at the outlets & the boutique. I haven't had those experiences & I shop both. Sometimes, I will be carrying an MK & other times, it might be a Fendi, Dior, Givenchy, ect. I have always been treated well. I can't stand for a SA for follow me around. I would usually let them know that I want to look & if I want their help, I'll ask for it. They all now know me by name at the boutique I shop at & I happen to be friends with the manager of the MK outlet store near me. Associates will acknowledge & speak to me when I come in & ask if I'm looking for something in particular. If they're having a sale & have some good buys, they let me know. I usually deal with a specific SA at the boutique & my friend usually helps me at the outlet when I've called to have them pull & hold a particular bag . Sometimes I buy & sometimes I don't. They've even called all over the US trying to locate something I want if they don't have it. I'm very picky & like to inspect a bag with a fine tooth comb. I'm real bad about inspecting several of a particular style & then buying the best one.

My husband says it's because when I walk in, I walk in like I own the place & I'm probably referred to as the MK ***** Customer.:graucho: LOL He's probably right.

I purchased a watch and pom fur Keychain a week ago and now see this special. So I called my SA to see if I could do something such as a return and repurchase with say a bag added to get to the 500 tier with the 125 off. He said he would check with the manager and get back to me. I don't think this is such an unusual request as its only been a week and many places will do price adjustments within about a two week period. If I didn't have the watch already adjusted I could definitely just do a return, no problem. They are usually very accommodating but from his voice I'm not too reassured. Crossing my fingers this works and I don't get upset.

Sometimes, though, it's alot easier for us to help someone who knows what they want. And I always enjoyed talking with customers who know what they're talking about. Sometimes you learn a thing or two 😉

No offense meant by what I said. I do have a lot of confidence & it shows in how I carry myself. And I sure I do come across intimidating at times. I don't do a lot of browsing shopping anymore. Now days, I tend to do my research before I go so when I show up at a store, I generally have a specific purpose. And I'm not rude to anyone in the store; I just like to look around for myself first & don't like being followed around all over the store. They all know me by name now & know my shopping preferences so they just let me look around & check in with me once or twice to see if I need assistance. I will say that the SA's working in the boutique in my area that sells the higher end Michael Kors Collection can be somewhat snobby to those that don't appear to be able to afford higher end luxuries. I've seen them totally ignore customers. That's what is a real shame.

None taken. I like to be left alone, as well. And that was always more of my selling style.

It's not that I don't get the attention but they seem to have rude tendencies towards others, just something I've noticed. I've been on both sides of the counter though with designer brands. My sales style was to greet customers, let them know if we had any promotions and offer to help them if they know what they're looking for. Other than that they were free to browse and knew they could call upon me, no hovering. This worked great as I built a great rapport with frequent customers, some would even drop by if they were in the area just to chat, not to mention I'd the highest sales every month! As a customer, I hate being "pushed" by an SA into looking at things and there's so much turnover that I never see the same salesperson the next time I'm there.

I need some input...I'm torn between the large jet set zipped tote (MK exclusive) in dark dune and the Dillon in dark khaki. I'd like to purchase one during this tiered sale. Which would you guys pick? Kind of thinking of getting the jet set tote because I can probably get a better price on the Dillon at Macy's at a later date, but the large jet set is only at the MK stores. I'd go with the jet set top zip tote. I haven't seen the large size anywhere other than MK, and it's not so easy to find it in dark dune, either. The Dillon will be easier to find at a later date.

Thanks!!!! Exact thing I was thinking. Plus, I loved the size of the large jet set top zip tote and the Dark Dune...I'm crazy about that color. This will be my bad weather bag, so the top zip tote will make more sense for that purpose.
