Thoughts on seasonal colors/textures

Good thread, OP!

I'm on the fence about white bags, honestly. I used to not care and wear them whenever I wanted, but now I wouldn't wear a stark white in the winter. I just can't. A creamy white or ivory or "winter white," however, are different stories! :)

I think even light-colored suede could and should be used in the spring/summer. Obviously, darker suedes work in fall/winter months. I honestly don't understand why people are afraid of suede -- in the past, I've owned all suede bags and they hold up great. I don't fill them with water or let them sit out in the rain overnight, but I do carry them even on (light) rainy days and they hold up just fine. I think it's a much tougher texture than people give it credit for. It's SO gorgeous on a bag!

Patent leathers-- hmm....normally I'd say fall/winter, but in the past, Coach has made some stunning colors in patent leather (corals, grays, seafoam greens) that would easily work in the summer. I love patent leather, actually. People either love it or hate it. I adore it! So chic and pretty.

When I buy an expensive Coach bag, I try to get ones in colors that will work year 'round - tans/camels (like my new soft borough grommet in tan), etc....but I love color, and I'd wear purple or emerald green year 'round, hands down!

The only thing I'd keep specifically for spring/summer (besides a stark white) are the ones designed with those "light hearted" months in mind -- the pretty ginghams and checks, for example.

But I agree with others: life is short, and if you love a bag, just wear it whenever the heck you want to wear it. Your confidence while wearing it will supersede whatever season it happens to be! :)

Idk how much I consciously consider textures and colors but I most certainly assign seasons to all my bags and put away anything that I have labeled out-of-season.

Warm weather: cream Kristin hobo, brown MultiSac crossbody
Cold weather: black mini duffle, black clutch, tan/brown Nine West satchel, small LV-ish *wink* shoulder bag
Weather-neutral: white Daisy wristlet, soon-to-arrive khaki/brown tote

Not sure what really makes me assign which bag to which seasons but I definitely switch some out when the weather changes.

I know there are rules, but on a cold, gray winter day (like all of them last winter) nothing can snap you out of the "grays" like a bright, soft, summer bright bag. I have even worn my cobalt tieks in the winter because just looking down all the time (I tend to duck my head when the wind is really howling) made me happier to see them than my much more sensible boots.
