Thoughts on a vintage 80’s enhancer??

So, I own the above Gucci chain and I wear it a lot both long and doubled. It’s heavy and I just like it. Then I spotted this enhancer at my fave local jeweler in his estate case and I’m trying to pair it with this chain.
How does everyone feel about it?
So far of ppl I’ve asked I’ve gotten either raves or absolute thumbs down. In fact, one of each.
So I’m confused!
Specs are 18k with a very unique vertically cut deep purple amethyst with .25 carats of very nice sparkly diamonds in handmade setting.

I like it. Don't think it would be an everyday kind of piece for me but if you like big.....

I love the Gucci chain and I love bold looks. The enhancer look is nice.

But... I don’t like the amethyst. Everyone knows an amethyst is a cheap stone, and I think it cheapens the look of your chain. No one uses amethyst in nice jewelry. It’s a mall jewelry stone.

The chain by itself is iconic Gucci. Adding the “amethyst” in my opinion ruins it. If it were a sapphire or emerald, that would rock!

I would not worry that amethyst is not a so-called "high-end" stone - that is the fun in it - to have real style it does not matter if something is "high-end" and that makes it more "high-end" if you know what I mean...

I think it looks sassy and juicy and fun
