When I spend a lot of money on a bag I tend to pick practical styles and colors that are likely to remain current and useful for a long time, and that will probably hold up well to wear over time.

So I tend to pass by some bags that are more "fun or delicate" unless I really like the bag and find it at a good price; then I can relax and enjoy the bag and not worry about practicality or wear and damage.

When this line of bags came out about 5 years ago I thought that they were beautiful and expensive; and that this specific bag was fun, gorgeous, and impractical - so I passed it by at the boutique and again later at the outlet, where it was still pricey at 50% off.

So I was very surprised when I chanced upon this bag recently on ebay it good condition at a low price. I kept thinking that there "had to be a catch" so I cautiously made a modest offer and was surprised that I got the bag for only $42, because it originally retailed for $700!

When I received the bag I was thrilled that it was in better condition than expected and delighted when @BeenBurned graciously confirmed that it was authentic. The exterior of the bag was a little grubby from handling and the leather was a bit wrinkled but it was very easy to clean it up. I just wiped it down with Dawn dish soap and water, steamed it in the shower to remove the wrinkles, and applied some leather conditioner. That's all it took and now the bag looks almost new IMO!

I know that this is a tough one because it is an older style, but any guesses as to which bag I found at such a great deal?

Here she is! My $42 "steal of a deal!" bag is the Tatum Tall Whiplash Tote in Chalk with Neon Pink Pop Lacing and Light Gold Hardware. The style number is 35156 LI E1K. It was part of the Spring 2015 Collection and retailed for $695.

Some of my pictures came out a little dark or yellow but the bag is chalk white pebbled leather. How do you like my new-to-me bargain beauty?

Here are some Coach pics of the page from the original listing. The handles fit over my shoulder so I can carry it snugly under my arm. It probably would be a tight fit if I was wearing a coat but this is a summer bag so it won't be a problem. I'm glad I won't have to carry it on my wrist or hand all the time and it is a big bag so carrying it on my shoulder is a nice option.

I am really pleased with my very economical purchase!

Wow I love your bag! I'm obsessed with the Whiplash at the moment. What an amazing deal!

Thanks! I also love the detailing provided by whiplash and woven designs and I have a few bags with that feature. Here's a photo of my Soho Leather Laced Flap in Buckskin and Brass shown with my 11879 Poppy Whipstitch Wallet in Natural Leather and Brass 47042, they were both inexpensive rehab projects.

I bought the soho flap at a local thrift store and the wallet on ebay. I try to never buy expensive items online but if the price is low, the pictures look good, and the vendor has a good rating - then I will take a chance - but I would be much less willing to buy online without the advice of our wonderful, expert authenticators!

Cool I will ask the ppl on here next time I'm shopping for a Coach bag on EBAY.
I know EBAY/Paypal has cracked down on fraud and my experiences were so long ago, a lot has changed! You are right, I need to make sure vendor has great feedback..so important!
