Pleeeease excuse my ignorance.... but how do automatic watches work? I read somewhere here that they need to be worn constantly in order for them to work, does this mean I have to reset them if they were left unworn for a while? :shame::blushing::shame:

I don't know the exact mechanism, but I've found that if I don't wear mine for more than a day or two, they need to be reset. Of course, if I'd just buy a watch winder already, that wouldn't happen! :p

Ok I finally learned how to reset my watch but I have a couple of questions..
Does the time that you have your watch on matter when you're not wearing it? I mean the longer you wear it the more it keeps working when unworn? Hope this makes sense..
Second question is, how do I set the 12 o'clock to be the midnight position? My watch changes the date at 12 noon
Being a Rolex newbie is really embarrassing :shame: lol!

Yes, your wrist action is what builds in the power reserve. The "power reserve" is the amount of time the watch will keep its wind when not being worn. (The idea of a watch winder is to simulate that wrist movement, and that's what keeps a watch wound.)

The easiest way to set the watch to turn over at the right part of the day is to hand wind it through to that later 12. That is, if it's stopped, wind the watch so that you can tell you've gone past the first 12 of the day. Then, when it's time for the new date, it can only change over at midnight.
