The too heavy purse problem

Actually, ladies, the weight of the bag is going to depend on the leather and the hardware, and then what you put in it. From my own investigations, I would say 75% of the bags I check out are too heavy to carry comfortably before they even have anything in them.

So true. I am finding it very hard to buy a good decent leather tote for work. The ones I like are already heavy when empty. All the light ones are either canvas or nylon.

What is a "glass sock"?
Sometimes Sunglasses come in a little nylon pouch before they get put in their big hard case. I know Oakley's do, I come from an athletic family so we have lots of these. I can't think of any other companies that do this. Maybe Spy, Rayban or Maui Jim too. Mainly the polarized ones, your suppose to clean the lenses with the pouch so the glasses don't scratch.

My bags are always so heavy ,so when I ask somebody to hold it for a moment, they ask what do I have in it.I've realized that first of all my wallet is too heavy with all the cards, change etc.,then I have glass cases(2),phone,keys,pens,and an issue of National geographic which I read when I have to wait for something as I'm behind with my reading(too busy). All in all,it has about a 1000 kilos!Sometimes my shoulder or hand really aches from that load, but I don't know how to go around without all my stuff!:sweatdrop:

I have learned the hard way about the weight of hardware and leather types. I have a beautiful Treesje Pumpkin Asher that just sits around most of the time. Every now and then I'll whip it out of the dustbag and plan to carry it. And then, it's like an enormous weight just lands on my head and makes me feel giddy. I tried carrying fewer things, using the shoulder strap, etc. But I suspect that myself and the Asher will never be very good friends. I'm now about to carry a fabulous soft leather Burberry satchel. The gunmetal hardware isn't very heavy or obtrusive. This bag is amazingly light and deceptively spacious. It's like night and day compared to the Asher's heavy-duty leather, pleats, big gold rings, etc. Will I ever learn?

i find for me the heaviest things are my bb torch and my sony ereader. when im going to be somewhere i have to hold the bag for awhile i make sure to take one of my super light longchamps

i always carried a really heavy bag and never minded but the past couple of years my back has been bothering me and i find a heavy bag just makes me tired by the end of the day so i have been really trying to lighten my bag and the things i keep in it. i tried every purse organizer and wasn't happy. i missed my slg's. it was just too utilitarian. if i couldn't find something, i found it hard with a purse organizer because it basically stays in the bag. so i just try to get bags on the lighter side and put as little in as possible.

Wouldn't a purse organizer make the bag heavier? I mean, you do add extra weight to it.
No, because it's super light nylon and I got rid of all my cute pouches that were keeping me organized. It has a cc holder, I don't but cc's in it, but all those shopping cards the stores give out now, Sephora, ect. I replaced my big beautiful (I miss) wallet with a card case. LV makeup pouch? Gone, there's a zipper compartment for makeup. What can I say? I didn't think I'd like it, but for now I do. The bag I bought for spring was heavier than I thought, a structured tan ostrich Italian no name, but nice leather with gold hardware bag. It was not returnable and this has made it work for me. I will say the organizer will not work in a bag with a lot of compartments, a lot of the Kate Spade's are like that.

I have 2 calfskin bags (both from Ferragamo) and they are my heaviest bags. The thing is, they are also the toughest. My lambskin bags and my cervo (deerskin) bag are super light, but delicate. I can't bump them around the way I can the Ferragamos.

So the heavier bags are the ones I take with me when they'll get knocked around. It's inconvenient.
