That is officially the ugliest stone i've ever seen, regardless of the silly scripture engraving...sorry for the negativity...i just had to say something. Religion has caused so much death and destruction throughout history, now it's ruining our pretty diamonds too...yuck.

So thats a definate no from you then!!!!!!!!!!! I feel much the same way about religion, but as one poster said,to each his own. But I do feel this is a step to far,I just feel its a bit of an underhanded way of reaching as big an audience as possible and using the jewellery trade is quite wrong. This trade is all about pleasure and indulgence not for promoting religion.Seems like they will stop at nothing to get it out there.

I was raised to not wear a cross necklace. My dad thinks that's too much.

But I think crosses / Stars of David / religious icon pendants are pretty, and tasteful and I respect people who choose to wear them.

This diamond definitely a step too far, and I think it's making a point of showing exactly how religious you are.

Wasn't there a Bible story about a flashy wealthy man having as much chance of going to Heaven as a camel does passing through an eye of a needle?

Without getting into a theological discussion, I don't subscribe to organized religion, either. I don't like what has been done / what's being done in the name of it. I'm more spiritual than religious. I do believe in God and the Ten Commandments, but as I've said before, I think to engrave them on a precious stone is too much.

That being said, I respect what people get out of organized religion.

I'm not saying religion is ALL bad (definitely one of those "to each his/her own" things), nor am i trying to start a theological debate. More or less saying that this diamond, specifically, is an ugly/bad thing that has been constructed because of religion and it's iconography ;) I really wasnt trying to offend anyone...just, yeah, reallllly think that's a waste of a perfectly good daimond...tisk, tisk!! Is there a jeweler out there that can reshape it into a princess or a heart? Happy thanksgiving my fellow pursebloggers :)

It really is VERY distasteful... but then again... isn't The Vatican one of the richest organisations in the world????:confused1:

Andy and myself went round it when we were on honeymoon in Rome,it was just so far beyond jaw dropping I just can't tell you,and that was the stuff the public is allowed to see. There was corridor upon corridor of priceless marble statues, these corridors were easily longer than a football pitch! And then there is all the Michelangelo frescos, just unbelivable!!

I think what bothers me about religion is the attainment of power the church has always chased in the name of God,the bloodshed it has caused, forcing religion onto people who were considered heathens and heretics because their object of faith and worship was 'the wrong one'. It was all about power and ownership, not about the basic faith and belief, and even now when there are people starving to death around the world the Vatican sits on its incalculable wealth and lets them die, as wealth is power.Sort of what its not all about. Not what God would have been chuffed about I'm sure!!

I have absolutely no problem at all with people following a faith as long it is peaceful and they don't push it in my face,I am quite a spiritual person and belive what you put out you get back,so I always try to be good to others and even if they get pissy with me I will try(!) and overlook it and think well at least it was'nt me dishing crap out to a stranger,I'm a bit better than that!! I'm by no means perfect and I'm sure on my deathbed I will be praying to God like scores before me!!!

But this diamond cut does smack of greed and wealth and not really getting the point of faith, and it reminds me of all that wealth sat in the Vatican, quite vulgar and useless as its inherent value is not being used to actually do good in the world.

^^^^^^I think thats really lovely!!!

The diamond I feel is a bit of a mercenary religious symbol as it cost so much!!! Do you really need such an expensive item to show your faith???? Callous marketing to me.xx
Uh oh...LOL...Just had a cross pendant made.....then some cross earrings...LOL....I hope no one throws stones at me LOLOLOL :sweatdrop:

P.S. My surgeon postponed my appt. til next week. Sigh. He had some emergency surgery. I am getting impatient LOL

OOOO,Hahahaha!!!! Actually,I don't have a problem with crosses,I was toying with getting one myself a little while ago!! I saw a really cute pre-owned one, claw set with about a 1ct full weight, and actually did'nt think of it as a religious symbol! I suppose thats bad in its own way isn't it?!!! But I have been around crosses so long in the trade that I must admit I view them as very pretty jewellery!
I think as a spiritual sort of person over Religious,I would wear one to symbolise peace and harmony but no more than that on that side of things, after all I think thats what the basis of religion is supposed to be about. But I do find the commandments stone is quite vulgar as its trying to be a really blatant symbol aimed at really deeply religious people, and if its aimed at them and is playing on their deep sense of faith to get more cash out of them, then thats wrong.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
