The SA at Tiffany & Co Rodeo Drive lied to me. :(

Your ring is very beautiful.

My friend has a fine jewelry store and carries both PS and PT. Yours looks like PT, IMO. The color in your photo looks too dark reddish pink to be PS, and looks exactly like the PT he has in his store. You may be able to contact customer service or the store and get a copy of the reciept (or it may be in their computer) just for your peace of mind. Good luck!!!:smile1:

ps-I hope it turns out to be PS for your sake-

As others have said, your rings are beautiful, regardless. :smile1: I do truely understand how you feel in regard to the rings stone being misrepresented.

Again, like others have said, take it to a another jeweler, a reputable one, closer to where you live and ask to have it evaluated.

TylerDurden brought up the point that Tourmaline may not be something T&Co would put in that particular collection so its still worth asking at a Tiffany's IMO.

(Pretty sure you've seen the thread with TylerDurden answering all kinds of Tiffany questions as he used to work there so high probability he may be on to something! ;)

I was in Tiffany yesterday to get something fixed and while I was there I asked if they made your ring with pink sapphires and they said yes.

OMG thank you so much!!!! :) which means I do have pink sapphires!! :yahoo: Totally makes my day.

I went to my local Tiffany yesterday to see some sparklies and I was told it was pink sapphires too. Which makes me wonder WHY the site says tourmaline?

Mini-I am so happy for you that you got exactly what you paid for-I know that must be a huge relief!!:p

My thought is that it probably came in PT and PS, as well as Aqua, etc. While PT isn't as expensive as PS, it is still in line with Aqua pricing (at least in my friend's store), and not as inexpensive as , say, Blue Topaz.

BTW, still love your rings-unique and pretty!!:smile1:

Perhaps they now make it with tourmaline?

Either way, I'm really happy for you, and very glad the SA didn't lie.

Thank you everyone for being so kind and liking my rings!!! :)

They are very special for me, I changed my religion for my husband to catholicism and they are blessed by the father who married us so it has a lot of meaning for me. :D

It's completely understandable that you feel violated because of the misinformation the SA gave you. Maybe there's a different way to look at the situation that I hope will help you:

1. Yes, your ring is made of pink tourmalines instead of pink saphires. BUT the quality of the pink tourmalines in your ring is absolutely gorgeous. T & Co. chooses super high quality stones and your ring is no exception.

2. If the ring was made with pink saphires, then your ring would have cost ALOT more money to own. Yes pink saphires are more monetarily valuable than pink tourmalines but it doesn't matter since you don't mind the different stones and you love your ring for what it looks like.

3. From what I understand, T & Co. doesn't even make this design with pink saphires so if you chose to return it based on it not being the stone the SA told you it was then whatever ring you get instead will not match the one your DH has.

Yes it sucks that the SA was an idiot and should have double-checked before telling the customer anything about the ring's stats but since you love it, it matches DH's ring, they may not even make it in pink saphires, it's super high quality stones, and it would have been even more expensive were it made of pink saphires... then consider yourself lucky to have found a design you love and can afford and ultimately makes you happy.

If at the end of the day, you are still upset then maybe go back and ask for store credit and pick something else that you would be utterly in love with.

So sorry for your situation. I hope this helps! :flowers:

You should get an indepedent appraisal to make sure what you were told is true. Or at least have T & C give you something in writing indicating that it is indeed made with pink saphires. An SA can easily tell you they are pink saphires or that design does come in pink saphires but unless it's in writing, how can you know for sure that your ring specifically is what they told you (especially since it's not stated on the receipt)? How everything turns out well for you.
