How very true,if you are'nt hugely well off, there is absolutely no point having more than you can wear at any one time. The money tied up in these items is probably best off elsewhere working for you.
I agree. I prefer buying fewer higher quality items than a mish-mash of so-so jewelry items. Unfortunately over the years I've collected many so-so jewelry items as gifts as I was growing up, but I don't really consider them a 'collection', and certainly not something I'd put forward as an accomplishment. I contemplate taking much of my jewelry to sell on consignment. I try very hard now to buy fewer, nicer items, and my husband does the same when buying me gifts (I give him plenty of direction!).
I don't mean to be offensive, but I just don't get where PMtrading is coming from. I'd read in another thread that he was rich and had 'unlimited funds', and now he's middle class. It almost seems as though he's trying to create a false persona for himself, and this modest jewelry collection is how he's trying to validate himself. On the other hand... if he and his wife are jewelry collecting as a hobby, and this is their baseline to eventually trade up to nicer things, then it would make more sense. They are obviously proud of what they've collected, and I guess it's important to realize that everything is relative.
