Yeah I’m definitely leaning that way. It’s not a powerhouse like a Birkin or anything. Maybe it’s only a collector bag in MY mind.Absolutely yes. What good is a collector bag sitting in a closet? Life is too short my friend.

I never ever thought about resale value in clothes, shoes, bags etc., until I discovered "bags." I still do not think about it. If I get any money back on a used personal item I feel like I have won the jackpot (well maybe not the $1 billion dollar one someone won yesterday...is that not obscene.. with people going hungry, argggg. Anyway, back on track and off my soapbox). But that is just me and I never have been accused of being the wisest person in the world with money. If I were, I would be carrying a $50 bag until it worn out.Yeah I’m definitely leaning that way. It’s not a powerhouse like a Birkin or anything. Maybe it’s only a collector bag in MY mind.![]()
That would come too dangerously close to selling on TPF and I’d get my hand slapped.
Question though. Do you sell a collectable bag that you rarely use in order to buy something that, while not as special, you know you’d use a lot? Opinions?
Resale never really entered my mind until TPF. And thinking about cost per wear gives me a headache.I never ever thought about resale value in clothes, shoes, bags etc., until I discovered "bags." I absolutely love the look of The Row leather, but I have changed over the last year and a bag that is a puddle of leather drives me batty. I hope I am not turning into a grumpy old woman!
I know! I get a bit stressed looking at stuff that sits on my shelf unused. Ideally I’d like to have maybe a couple dozen bags max that I rotate frequently.I would. Bags are meant to be used, and I'd be happy knowing someone was using the collectable bag I sold.
Yes, I would still do it, as long as I know that the new bag will be something I will use a lot and it will be a keeper for a relatively long time. I feel like if it meets that criteria, then resale value doesn't matter because I'm not planning on selling it anytime soon lol. That’s the mindset I’ve been operating under lately. It can be hard to let some of those beauties go but collecting rather than using is something I’m trying to avoid. Would you still do it even if the new bag probably wouldn’t have as good resale value? Mind you, not many brands seem to have great resale value anyway...
Good point, thanks!Yes, I would still do it, as long as I know that the new bag will be something I will use a lot and it will be a keeper for a relatively long time. I feel like if it meets that criteria, then resale value doesn't matter because I'm not planning on selling it anytime soon lol.
Funny mine really changes up due to lighting, I’ll get some pics up.I have Oyster, too. It is so hard to photograph for me, never comes across accurately, but it looks light lavender to me most of the time. View attachment 4966995
I say go for it, but also follow your gut. I knew you would find in soon@Nibb I found the Row bag at 2/3 the price, it has to be a mistake because the same company is selling it for more in the US. Dilemma, what do I sell in order to buy it???![]()
I have sold a couple that didn’t work for me and never looked back. That would come too dangerously close to selling on TPF and I’d get my hand slapped.

Yes, none of my bags have great resale, especially the ones I purchased new. That’s the mindset I’ve been operating under lately. I remember you bailed from BV for the same reason, you may prefer a bit of structure to your bags. Not grumpy just picky like the rest of us.I absolutely love the look of The Row leather, but I have changed over the last year and a bag that is a puddle of leather drives me batty. I did and I still drool every time I see a BV Veneta! Maybe the pandemic has just made me grouchy and I will recover from this. It certainly limits my buying these gorgeous, squishy, yummy bags.I remember you bailed from BV for the same reason, you may prefer a bit of structure to your bags.
