The round or the emerald?

Round. The halo on the emerald makes the emerald look tiny as if you are trying to create a bigger look by haloing.

I’m not a fan of halos for that exact reason.

The round is pretty.
But... may I suggest you also try and classic six-prong. That setting, as simple as it is, makes a diamond sparkle like mad. And the knife edge makes the diamond the star.

I also want to mention a four prong setting makes a round look squarish which is a look I don’t like. The six prong setting makes the diamond a perfect round!

Good luck!

The Tiffany Setting inrose gold would look lovely! I think the halo around the emerald cut takes away from the center stone. The Harmony is lower set compared to the Tiffany Setting, so that could be a pro or con depending on your preference. I personally like the height of the six-prong setting better!

I’m a huge fan of oval and emerald stones. (My engagement ring has an oval). And I love the look of the band on the emerald ring. It’s more feminine and lux IMHO. So pretty!

What I’m not crazy about is halos. As someone else mentioned they just look like someone couldn’t afford the diamond they wanted so, they halo’ed to make it bigger. I know this isn’t necessarily the case. It’s just an impression that many of us get. And, halos are e-ver-y-where. I fear that in 5-7 years, the style will look dated.

Is there a third option of the emerald with the same band / no halo or the round with the pretty band?

If you can’t choose, perhaps you may not have found “your” ring? Maybe keep looking til you find the perfect one that makes your heart stop? I see both of these are Tiffany’s. Perhaps broaden your search to other jewelers? Good luck!

Emerald and cushion cut diamonds are totally my jam, round was just too classic and I saw them everywhere, nothing wrong with it but just not what I was looking for. My personal opinion: to see the real beauty of an emerald cut, the steps... and my SA agreed with me, it has to be over certain size to be truly appreciated. It's on my future wish list.
You should try more rings and cuts if you are open to the idea. Once you have the right ring on..you would just know. Good luck.

I'm biased as I have a Harmony ring, plain band. And I love it. It is very low maintenance and easy to wear day in day out. I only ever take it off for work (work in a hospital so not allowed rings with stones). Mine is a small diamond but it sparkles like crazy and I look at it all the time still. Had it 6 years this year.

Oooooh, I love the Harmony setting! I was actually thinking of resetting my Bezet into the Harmony setting with pave band. It really sparkles - but I agree with the comment that the four prongs make the diamond looks kind of square-ish. I still love it - so my vote is for the Harmony!
