Thanks for sharing! I was not familiar with these. I agree with @A bottle of Red... while I'm generally not a "quiet luxury" type gal, these bags are a bit too ornate for my personal taste but the dragon embellishment itself is to die for and I would love to have on a smaller and more simple bag.

I found this green on online which I think is stunning. Maybe I need an overly ornate bag after all? Lol

I would love that one!

Enamel.

Gucci is famous for its enamel. It's always been apart of their fancy hardware work and then in the 70s, their silver too.

It supposed to resemble Cloisonné (or perhaps Champlevé ) although, in this case I suspect the gold is painted on (I will have to check my shoes).

The zoom on your pic makes me think that perhaps the leather is boar-skin (which Gucci used to be famous for before phasing it out around 2012)
Thank you for the info. I was wondering about the enamel bc it reminds me a bit of the handle on my Bvlgari cuore 1968 bag (snake with gold plated brass and enamel scales).

That sounds gorgeous too.

Obviously Bvlgari, founded in Rome, almost treat their hardware like jewellery, and Gucci shares its founding city Florence with the largest and finest jewellery centres in Italy.

Since I answered your last post, I did some digging and it seems Italian enamel work more often uses Basse-taille work.

I am now officially obsessed.

I'm just running off to find my enamelled Gucci tiger buckle to take a closer look.

It's not the most practical bag, but it's unique. The handle is what drew me to it. Here's a video I found that shows a bit of insight into the making of it, but I wish they better showed the process for making the handle.

I went to look at the rest of the photos, it's so beautiful and immaculate as you say. But in a way that's sad to have owned such an incredible piece and never wear it.

Very true. A lesson to us all.

It should go to the Gucci museum IMO. Gucci Museo won't pay that money though, for all their billions, Gucci don't spend proper money on their archive.
