+1I guess I would rather have a piece with a date code, purely because I quite enjoy looking at my older pieces and marvelling at how well they've held up for their age. If I buy something new from LV now, in ten years time I won't remember when I bought it.
I did notice and someone mentioned here the tag that comes with the item does have the date code on it..The biggest (and really only) con for me about not having date codes is having to rely on going into an LV boutique to find out what year the bag was made in. In most situations it wouldn’t matter, but say you’re looking to buy a preloved bag, and there are certain years there are known canvas or glazing issues. You would want to avoid buying those years, and you wouldn’t be able to easily find out what year it was made before buying.

With most of my items from online and in the store, I have been receiving the tag with the date code info. I am in the US.That's interesting. I don't know what other people's experience has been, but here in the UK, I haven't always received that tag when I buy new from LV. In fact I've rarely had it -- I always get the little card that says what the item is made of, but not usually the white tag that has the model number on it and is specific to that item. I've found this to be the case both when buying in store and online.
