Dear Pfers,

So I work in the finance industry, where people can be trendy but you wear conservative business casuals that can never be as wild as anything u might see at a fashion designer's or a PR firm. I have been in search for a PERFECT WORKING BAG, that can fit as much of my daily load as possible (sometimes that includes a small laptop, a thick notebook and my emergency make-up kits etc.)

So the bag has to be big but not like stupidly big coz im kinda petite. And I want something trendy and decent, but not ridiculously expensive nor shiny brand names in bold. If you have anything that you think would be totally a decent work bag choice, plz plz share! Thank you!!!!

Wow! Love to be in Finance!

It depends if you want a structured or a slouchy workhorse bag. You would want to have a look on what you have and what your tastes are. And the pros and cons.

To make decisions easier for me, i get one slouchy and one structured depending where the day takes me. If i need to impress, i get the structured. sometimes though i need the slouchy for things that are not rectangluar in shape etc etc. this bag is more of fabric, so it gives.

I love the prada briefcase, so slick yet so under the radar. And in so many different colours!! And there's the added paddlock (if i need to lock my bag). Then i have a small chic bag to carry me through day and night (Lady Dior petite size). And finally a statement pump completes everything.

I use a Mulberry double zip tote. It easily fits a laptop (13" MBP), makeup bag, wallet, phone, and files. It's structured and ladylike but not too stiff. I'm only 5'2" and I think it looks fine on me.

My thoughts exactly. A respected brand with tradition, a very low key design and logos, great quality, plus the Double Zip Tote is just gorgeous... :smile1:

Michael Kors has really nice, trendy bags

What's your budget? I don't work in a corporate setting, but if I did, I think I'd want a Chanel Cerf tote -- beautiful but relatively understated, with a detachable shoulder strap for multiple carrying options. Also agree with the Prada suggestion.

I loved my Burberry Manor bag - until my yorkie chewed off its handles. It was not too heavy and yet incredibly spacious, so I could carry all the work stuff and much more in it. I guess that one is discontinued, but Burberrys are classical and practical.

I would also suggest Phillip Lim's Pashli - but not sure if it's not too frivolous :)

I wear Hermes and Chanel at weekends and on holiday... but I really am looking for something that is under $1500 as a work bag for two reasons, a) i feel tht in an office, you don't want to be the one w the most expensive stuff in the office unless u are the top man/woman coz ppl don't necessarily receive the image positively...b) I want something that I won't be too upset if it got ruined by laptop/travel etc.

I would recommend DAAME. Their mission is to support the working woman with stylish yet functional 9 to 5 bags and they use Italian leather and lining that is used by brands like LV.

Worth a look if you are looking for something that would fit a 15" or a 13" laptop. Good luck in your search!

I'm always looking for a new work bag that won't kill my shoulders (I have to bring a laptop to work daily)! Totally agree on the "no in your face brand names," never have been a big fan of those. I recently just got a bag that i'm obsessed with (and no brand name on the outside of it!). It has a space for my laptop and my everyday essentials i.e. lunch, folders, phone, wallet. It has honestly been a life saver for my arms! I got the New York from thegraceship.com. It's a super cute independent business and they have a couple other styles you might like!
