Any updates on Lam Lam's NBA career? Saw the boxscore from the last game... and ... um ... I was not impressed...

Coach VDN and Odom spoke to the press yesterday.

Del Negro on Odom: 'It's going to take a little time'

LOS ANGELES – The numbers are worse than they've ever been.

Lamar Odom is playing only 10.8 minutes a game, grabbing 2.2 rebounds and scoring 1.8 points a game.

But seven games into the Clippers' season, those ugly numbers don't have Odom or Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro panicking.

"It's going to take a little time," Del Negro said. "I'm very comfortable with his work ethic. I'm very comfortable with his approach."

Odom said he has gotten his weight down to 250 pounds, and he understands that the results today aren't the ones that matter.

"I'm looking big picture," he said Sunday.

And big picture, Odom's going to be important.

"He has such a good feel for the game, he can make plays out there," Del Negro said. "He sees plays offensive or defensively out there because of his experience."

But right now, the body isn't caught up with the mind.

Odom is still working back from bone bruises in both knees that sidelined him for the final two weeks of the preseason. He's also trying to shake off rust from what amounts to a lost season last year in Dallas.

And, he's got limited time on the court to do those things.

"There's a process for him," Del Negro said. "He's continually working on his conditioning and understanding what we're trying to do there. I'm trying to get him some minutes here and there the best I can.

"He understands the big picture, and we do. We've sat down and talked."

And Odom said he's willing to be patient. He's confident that he's on the right track and knows his role on the Clippers won't be to "take 20 shots."

"If our record is 5-2 and I'm taking steps in the right direction, that's all I can do," Odom said. "It's all about staying positive and understanding the big picture. There's no way I can get it back after missing a year and a half. ...It takes time and I'll stay the course."

NOTES

Del Negro said Chauncey Billups and Grant Hill continue to improve from their respective injuries, but there's still no timeline for either to return. ... After talking to Caron Butler about increasing his production on the glass, Butler pulled down six boards – twice as many as his previous season-high. ... The Clippers wore red, white and blue socks and sweatbands Sunday as part of the NBA's salute to Veterans Day. ... Former NBA center Shaquille O'Neal sat courtside for the game Sunday and booed Blake Griffin when Griffin elected to lay the ball in on an uncontested breakaway. "I paid $1,400 a seat," he said. "I want to see some (stuff)."

I wish him well, but I still don't understand how he could show up overweight for training camp when he a) had all the time in the world to be prepared and in tip-top shape and b) knows how much depends from this season. He had to redeem himself after the Dallas fiasco. Badly.

The injuries aren't his fault and he's lucky to have found a very patient coach, though.

Again, wish him the best.

Keeping it simple :p Little Lam lam found the bucket 2x in the last 5 games

His stats are here

Yikes. Hopefully, this time number do lie and he at least helped creating plays that didn't make it to his score sheet...
