The Goyard Effect

To me the "exclusivity" would just be an added little something. I truly love the look of Goyard and would purchase it regardless of that status of sorts - though not seeing it everywhere does have something to do with my really liking it since it doesn't seem played out, if that makes sense. I guess what I'm trying to say is I wouldn't buy it without loving it just because of the exclusivity, but because I love it and am not tired of seeing it on every street corner.

That said, when I bought my Neverfull and Speedy it was because I truly loved them. The Speedy I wanted since I was a little girl and the Neverfull I got the right after it came out because I loved it, and I use it plenty still. I live in a major city and am so tired of seeing them constantly everywhere, but I do use it a lot because I like it.

I am planning on my first Goyard next month, and I can see falling out of love with LV since I am mainly already there.

I also think people may always compare the two because of the presence of logos/pattern, whereas off-hand the only other brand I can recall that has this so prominently is Gucci.

I Just bought my first Goyard tote and being a huge LV person I was hesitant at first. But I really like the tote! I feel that you just never see them and its unique. Its nice to have a bag that you don't see everywhere. I don't love all the styles of Goyard and would love to have my personalized. I also like how you have such a great range of personalized options and you can even take an older bag in later to get done.

I love Goyard! I have an Ambassade and a St. Louis GM. They are such understated pieces and the personalised painting just makes them fabulous.

With that said, I will always have a soft spot for Louis Vuitton. LV, alongside Hermes, was the first bag I ever loved and I will always have a few of their pieces in my collection. My husband swears by them but then again I wouldn't want him taking my Goyards so I'm ok with that :)

I say love them both. 7 days in a week and that's plenty to carry all sorts of luxury bags ;)

Got my first St Louis GM black on black from NM Bev Hills! I have been a Chanel gal forever and this unstructured purse is such a welcome change. I am loving it and now targetting the other colors!

I have to agree, after purchasing the st.louis, i don't think i'll be buying bags from louis vuitton---probably just the slg's [emoji4] i'm currently deciding on the color I want for my next goyard (an artois)

I have both Goyard St Louis and Louis Vuitton Neverfull in my collection and I don't feel like this at all. I love both brands because they make different models that are good for different use. For example I much prefer Louis Vuitton Keepall over similar Goyard bags.

I agree. I had a Goyard wallet (which I sold lay summer after ten years of use) and a Goyard Tote (which I also sold a couple of years ago). When I first discovered Goyard in the early 2000s, I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. I worked at Louis Vuitton at the time and every trip to Paris required a trip to Goyard. They have a marketing strategy and need to hit sales objectives. Now I realize they are just like every brand: their marketing strategy is that they pretend not to have one. Their market has expanded extensively over the last twenty years. The quality has turned me off, even if I still like their color options and many of their models. To each his own, but for me there is nothing truly special about any of these brands: they are just businesses.

I love my st. louis! It is my first designer bag and I was choosing between this and the LV neverfull. Part of the reason I leaned toward goyard was because I feel like I see LV (the neverfull especially) quite a lot, but also I just adore the goyardine pattern :) not a lot of people know it, which adds to the fun for me, but when they do know it they always stare ;)

Yes! I love the random stares [emoji4]

I do love my Goyard bag in part because it's not recognizable where I live versus my Hermes/Chanel purses. I can definitely tell a difference when I'm in New York/etc. that it gets more stares.

That said, the number one reason I love Goyard is because of the quality and especially the durability!

Oh, nothing quite like the revival of an old thread.

Late to chime in, but yes and no for the original question. Yes, because I just agree with Vuitton completely. I do confess that I am still using one of their their canvas messenger, because it is damn sturdy. However, I recently found a crack on the canvas in a crease-prone area, so I am thinking about getting a grand bleu some time soon.

No, because Hermès is simply...Hermès. Goyard really does not stand up to them in terms of stitching.

Goyard is fine, but I find ubiquitous sight of St. Louis disturbing.
