Nah, not hinting
I did have a conversation with DH the other day about my "collections" (also love bracelets, although not H ones - well I do love them, but they are way above my financial level). He simply cannot understand why I adore accessories. I keep telling him that loads of other women (and some men) also collect these things, but he is from a very frugal background. My late MIL lived through WWII and saved used envelopes to use as note pads all of her life.
My own mother was pretty similar. She had very little good jewellery or other accessories.
My argument is that very few dresses, jumpers, jeans etc. will last me out, but scarves and jewellery, if looked after well, will do just that! I wish I had a daughter to inherit my best items
And a very good argument it is!
