Mine has the same issue too. Brought it to the boutique and they did say too it is from the handle but it is not considered as a defect. They advised me to keep the handles up too.
I put a small pillow (perfect size) in it too.

May I know how you got the dent out?

Mine also arrived with dents on the sides from the handles. I'm not using the bag yet anyway so I stuffed the bag with pillow and leaving it for a few days. It wasn't too noticeable to begin with, I only saw it because I was looking for it based on your warning.

I was able to get the dents out by lightly pushing from the inside pocket ....

I guess better than nothing, but I am traumatized from looking at the pics and worried the same will happen to mine. I really really don’t want to return it...
