So I am just curious about how you all choose what bag to carry each day or what inspires you to switch out your bag. Which comes first, your bag or what you are planning to wear? I use to grab a bag because it seemed to match, but I now find myself choosing a bag based on the following criteria:

1. Weather forecast
2. Functionality
3. What hasn't been pulled out in awhile

THEN

I find myself dressing to match my bag now rather than the other way around. I guess it is not a bad thing since I tend to plan more as opposed to hyperventilating while trying to get dressed each morning and deciding what to wear. Does anyone else anchor their their clothes around their bag or am I the only one sadly in need of an accessory therapist??!!!

90% of the time I pick a bag first, then work clothes around the bag. Sometimes weather changes can alter my bag plans, which can....not always. ...throw me into a tizzy.

I do it exactly like you do! I wouldn't be surprised if most tpfers did the same. I am actually trying to streamline my wardrobe into consisting of neutrals so anything I wear goes with my bag...

LOL, this is me too! Most of my weekday clothing is neutrals, so it matches most all of my bags. I do also try to match with the bag I feel like wearing that day :D

me too! My wardrobe has gotten so much more neutral since I started carrying colorful bags. When I carry a black bag it is harder to find something colorful to wear with it. My closet is full of black clothing!

I pick out the bag first. I usually stay in a bag for 3 or 4 days. Sometimes I'll change bags sooner if I need a different bag because the weather has changed or I need to be hands free. During the winter I often decide which boots I want to wear first and then pick the bag next.

I dress according to my bag now. I used to dress according to my shoes, but now it's my bag and shoes. I have a few basic colors: greens, reds, grays, and blacks. That simplifies dressing!

Good thread!

I pick an item I want to wear and design an outfit around it. Sometimes it's a bag, sometimes a piece of jewelry, sometimes a top or shoes or outerwear or a scarf.

I empty my bag every night. It's almost like taking my shoes off. I just don't like storing stuff in a bag. I have a drawer for all my stuff that goes in purses. I don't carry a lot of stuff.

I just rotate through my bags, use them about a week or so, and wear whatever I decide to wear that day. In other words, I do not try to match the bag... I am just using whatever bag I chose for that week.

Bag first, i am a boring neutral clothing person... and my purses are just as bad lol There isn't one that i own that wouldn't go with "everything".

As for making a choice on a bag, i don't change out often... i get into one and basically crash.. i will remain there for a month or more.. now if the occasion calls for me to carry smaller? i may downsize based upon that, or i feel i will need more hands free then a switch again.

While i LOVE colorful bags i think this is why i never buy them.. the ability to have to blend with the outfit would annoy me.. my errand running during the week is limited i don't have time to play choose a purse and on weekends while time is more relaxed i prefer being able to choose the bag on it's functionality vs its color.

I only own 1 purse that would be water/weather concerning ... after that the rest can be worn anytime, anything mother nature tosses at me.

dress to shoes...boy did I use to do that.....long ago - just the other day my mom told me to get her a clutch to match her shoes...I was like MOM we don't do that anymore......
heck I have on blue shoes today and a metallic bag - she would think I am nuts....

for me, I just pick out my clothes and then get a bag.....then think about if it is raining or snowing......

I use to take time and be matchy matchy...I don't have time for that anymore....

I have so many bags that I choose my clothes first then go to the "bag room" to pick a bag that matches the vibe/color of my outfit.

I travel for work Monday - Thursday and I must have a large bag to accommodate my laptop and personal items since I can only carry 2 items on the plane. One item has to be my suitcase so my bag for the work week is usually Business Tote/Legacy Tanner/Tumi travel tote sized.

On the weekends it's usually a duffle/cross-body style bag. My clothes are very colorful (pink, orange, yellow, red) and I pick my bag as an accessory to coordinate with my attire.

I'm a hybrid...haha. Some days, I'll choose outfit first, and some days..I choose the bag first. If the weather is sucky, I will plan outfit around bag since I try to stick with zip top bags for crappy weather. I'm so happy the sun is finally back. I get to cheat on Coach with my nubuc Gucci!! My nails match the G perrrrfectly and I've been waiting over a week to be able to use her!
Purse withdrawal: The struggle is real!!

Glad you're getting some sun, too! Too much rain for SC.
