beljwl, This is SOOOOOO lovely. What a wonderful way to pay tribute to your grandmother.
For the earrings, you could make them into Double or single microset halo drops. Maybe with Natural pink diamond Melle and 18K pink gold. These are using pear shapes, but you can see the general drop idea.

Wow. love your before and after pics.- you can't even tell that is the same stones???, the bigger diamond looks totally diff. and better. Congrats!
It is a beautiful design, and now that it's made into something you will wear often, it will be even more special. I'm sure your grandma would be very proud of how you redesigned it into something you will get plenty of use out of. I did this with a teardrop shaped amethyst ring that my grandmother left me. I already had a rectangular ring that was similar, so I knew I would not wear hers very often. Actually, I only had to have the ring part cut off and they smoothed the edges. I have some other pieces that I need to design into something one of these days. Now you've given me inspiration to do so soon!
Im all for the update in style so you can wear it to go with the other pieces you wear everyday. Its very simple and lovely. Enjoy. The ideas for the smaller stones are also lovely. If you have a daughter, you can have something made for her.
