One time I was going to a wedding and was going to carry my Speedy but then thought it might be difficult if there were finger foods/drinks as I didn't know if there was a sit down meal or not. So I changed to a small Kate Spade that was hands-free. It did turn out to be a sit down meal but some guy spilled a glass (thankfully white) wine into it when I was looking for Purell. I washed and dried everything in the bathroom and nothing was damaged, but I was thankful it wasn't my LV!

Wow, talk about a lucky hunch! So glad it wasn't your LV and not red wine!

I went to an Hermes tPF meet in London and it looked like rain so I didn't take one of my H bags or my Gucci python Catherine that went so nicely with my outfit.

After lunch we walked down Sloane St (as in the middle of the road because the pavement/sidewalk was 'not available') through and past hundreds of demonstrating animal rights protesters outside Josephs (and ignoring Fendi on the opposite side of the road :shrugs: ) a couple with red paint in-hand...

I can't remember which bag I was wearing but I remember thinking how glad I was to have not brought the python

 Talk about a close call! Must've been one of those days&moments that aren't going to vanish from your memory any time soon...

I check the weather every time I need to go out into the big outdoors as well. So it's soft leather bags for sunny days and saffiano leather for rainy or potentially rainy days.

Every time I look out the window and see rain, I go back inside and swap out whatever bag I was originally carrying for the tried-and-true Speedy. But I can't think of any dramatic stories like yours! Thank goodness your Mulberry was alright!

It will vanish from my mind quicker than when last year when I packed a bottle of water in my brand new BV whilst on a summer holiday, I'd only worn the bag twice before... You read my posts, I never, ever put water/drinks bottles in any of my bags but it was really hot and I thought I was going to be out all day and 'just this once'....well sod's law....but that's another story...all ended OK though ;)

I'll tell you what this all proves to me. It's good to have a variety of bags and not just our super-duper and very precious HGs

Wow. That's really crazy bad luck to have a leaking bottle just that one time you DO take one in your bag!
I always carry a water bottle, I close to never drink juice or soft drinks but these 2 unlucky ones were actually because I was out on the job around the clock and it was really hot and really busy so I had to drink something besides water to keep my blood sugar levels up. So naturally both of them decide to burst their guts into my bag and on me. Just water will find its way in my bags in the future.

Most of the time I carry a steel bottle with an extra secure cap and it sits in a neoprene cooler that comes above the bottle top so if something leaks or there's some condensation, the neoprene keeps it in.

And YES, yes, yes, you are SO on the money with the variety issue!
Work bags have to be cheap/old/made of steel and concrete to last in my line of work, but I do want to carry nice, higher end bags as well. I've given up on the idea of taking a Mully (or anything else that cost me more than 50 euros) with me to work unless it's just a day of meetings or training. If I'm onboard a train, that means a bag that carries no sentimental/financial value is with me.

OMG, sounds like the date from hell! My guess is the date wasn't a keeper? Oh my, I'd probably dump the date and head straight home before they followed the pasta up with dessert! :faint:

"And that was when I knew it would never work out between us."

Seriously, though, how awful! I hope the purse made it through unscathed.

The Neverfull (the old design, at least) is much sturdier that I thought it was. After soaking it and wiping it down on the inside, the stain lifted but there was a distinctly tomato-ey pasta odor. But then, after sunning it and airing it out, it was like the accident never happened.

Lol! And we didn't get dessert. Or a second date.
