That moment when someone knocks your purse to the ground

This brings up an interesting point--what if we REMOVE handbag value from the above situations?
If a stranger knocked to the floor, without apology or thought, ANY VALUE handbag--would that be offensive to you?

I think rude & self-centered BEHAVIOR causes damage, on many levels.
That's how I interpreted the OP's theme, here--how do we deal with others' inexplicable nonsense, while still enjoying & protecting what we value personally?
But, just my opinion.
I work in mental health... not many things bother me. You can't expect everyone to have the same value system as you. If they knock my bag down and it is damaged... and that don't say they are sorry... yeah that sucks... but realistically, I am not going to call the police... Regardless of the value of the bag.

I am also mindful of the settings... As I operate day to day in work.. I believe in a prevention-based approach...

Thank you. I believe you're right about prevention being an important consideration.

Bumping this as I need to vent and not many would understand outside of TPF.

I went to a comedy show last night, carrying one of my mini bags. Security is checking purses, so I have mine open. He asks if there's any pockets and if there's anything in it, to which I respond honestly, yes, there's a necklace. It's a very tight fit in the bag, so I start to move my wallet to show him, but before I can, he takes a very old and dirty dowel to move it to get to the pocket with the rough edge against the silk lining of my bag. I just stood there in shock trying to help more.

I understand he was just doing his job and that they need to be fast, but it made me panic and I wish he could have waited two seconds for me to move it. Fortunately, I was able to grab a seat at a table to check my bag, it was unscathed, and I was able to move on and enjoy the show.

It depends on my bag. If I'm carrying one of my Balenciaga's (or maybe a brand new bag) then I'm more apt to internally freak out a little if someone knocked it to the ground. Well, in that case maybe not internally ... I'd probably make a loud gasp and quickly check for damage! But if it's one of my less expensive bags that are a little beat up already from wear, I'm a little more relaxed around them. So I have different bags I'll wear to different things. Going to the hair salon? Throw around bag it is!

You guys are funny!! This is point of buying a quality designer bags! So it can be knocked and throw around and not fall apart... well at least that's why I buy these bags anyway.
