Love your Girlie Napa Clip Hobo, katev! Such a perfect shade of true red..... and the clip closure and shape make her so chic! You've spent so much time lovingly restoring some of the classics, I'm glad that you got a break on this one both with the condition and the price. So sweet of CA-Anonymous to provide the handtag. Enjoy both of your classy bags!

Props to CA-Anon! I'm friends with her IRL and she's one of the nicest people I've ever met! Gorgeous red bag, Kate--great find!
Aw, you're too sweet Shell, miss seeing you on TPF, but I know you're busy!!

I recently revealed my $20 thrift store find of a red Girlie Nappa Clip Hobo 8928 from 2003. The bag is made of the softest lamb nappa and was in immaculate condition both inside and out. This pretty little bag didn't need any rehabbing at all but it did have one condition issue - she was missing the Coach hangtag.

Replacing a lost hangtag is usually not a big deal because Coach JAX (and the boutiques) will give customers replacements at no charge; but the Girlie line of bags had unusual hangtags.

They were small, thick, rectangular metal tags that were enameled on the front to spell out "COACH" in relief and stamped "COACH" inside of a small lozenge or cartouche on the reverse side, matching the "COACH" cartouche stamped on the bag's unusual clip closure.

I knew that I would never be able to find one of the original hangtags so I just put a regular silver metal tag on her, but it looked kind of big and clunky. I was hoping that later I might be able to find a smaller, more suitable silver metal tag - but that wasn't necessary!

A very kind TPFer (our own sweet CA-Anonymous!) told me that she had an original Girlie hangtag and would be happy to send it to me as a gift! I was so excited and it was very nice thing for her to do!

I got it yesterday and it is perfect for my pretty little bag; now she really is pristine!

You can see pics of my bag with her new hangtag below, sometimes the flash makes the hardware look gold but it is silver.

So I am sending out a great, big THANK YOU to CA-Anonymous!

You're so welcome, so glad I helped to to make your purse 'whole' again. It's a beautiful bag. I love Coach's red bags!

I know what you mean by "whole again". Some folks remove the hangtags or don't bother to replace them if they get lost; but to me they are the "finishing touch" on the bag and also an indication that I have successfully completed a rehab project. I know that you can move tags between bags so that the one you are using always has one, but that's kind of a pain and I lreally ike each bag to have its own hangtag and dustbag!

I really appreciate that Coach is so good about providing free replacement tags, most of the time the generic tags are fine but when a bag has a "special tag" it is really nice to have the correct type on your bag.

I have been pretty lucky with hangtags until recently when I lost the large shiny silver metal tag for my MSB, but an SA at the boutique found a perfect replacement for me. I have now started to use a "needle-nosed pliers" to tighten the ball chain fasteners a bit to try and prevent future loses.

I had checked out ebay with no luck and I figured that I would never find the special type of tag that was used for the Girlie, so I was really thrilled when you offered to send one to me, thanks again!
