I recently revealed my $20 thrift store find of a red Girlie Nappa Clip Hobo 8928 from 2003. The bag is made of the softest lamb nappa and was in immaculate condition both inside and out. This pretty little bag didn't need any rehabbing at all but it did have one condition issue - she was missing the Coach hangtag.
Replacing a lost hangtag is usually not a big deal because Coach JAX (and the boutiques) will give customers replacements at no charge; but the Girlie line of bags had unusual hangtags.
They were small, thick, rectangular metal tags that were enameled on the front to spell out "COACH" in relief and stamped "COACH" inside of a small lozenge or cartouche on the reverse side, matching the "COACH" cartouche stamped on the bag's unusual clip closure.
I knew that I would never be able to find one of the original hangtags so I just put a regular silver metal tag on her, but it looked kind of big and clunky. I was hoping that later I might be able to find a smaller, more suitable silver metal tag - but that wasn't necessary!
A very kind TPFer (our own sweet CA-Anonymous!) told me that she had an original Girlie hangtag and would be happy to send it to me as a gift! I was so excited and it was very nice thing for her to do!
I got it yesterday and it is perfect for my pretty little bag; now she really is pristine!
You can see pics of my bag with her new hangtag below, sometimes the flash makes the hardware look gold but it is silver.
So I am sending out a great, big THANK YOU to CA-Anonymous!
