Thank you for all your input ladies!

I just want to take a moment to clarify some things. English isn't my first language so there might be some lost in translation issues :p

It wasn't my intention for this to be a thread where I whine about not getting the ring that I want. :shame:

We're really early in the process and wanted to tell about the "missing engagement ring tradition" to show that we are pretty much on our own and don't really have any real life examples around. To be honest, I don't even know one person that wears both e-ring and wedding band. :wtf: (Sad but true, I know)

I think we are going to take our time and visit some jewelers to make sure we have seen everything the market has to offer. It's such an important decision that I want to make sure that I do the right thing.

I really honour my boyfriends suggestions and taste and to be honest there have been quite a few instances like this:

Me: I really really really love item A!
Him: It's nice, but don't you think item B would be nicer?
Me: NOOOOO! *stompsfoot*
Him: Ok, let's get A!
---> fast forward 2 weeks
Me: Aww, I should have taken B! :crybaby:
Him: ok, let's get B as well...

I definitely will keep you updated on the process :graucho:

Totally understand your question and background story. I'm from the Netherlands...
First of all I think you should choose what's you're style. You will have to wear it all your life :-).

I love the Niessing tension rings, but...:
1. you obviously don't
2. I'm not sure they 'stack' beautifully, so..
3. In my opinion they will work better as a modern and original wedding ring.

Have fun making your decision!

Then we're almost neighbours. I'm an hour away from the border

I had a Steven Kretchmer Helix tension set E-ring with a 3ct pear diamond. He patented the tension design in the 1980s. His tension setting designs can be more feminine.
Check out his website...you may find a nice compromise. My ex-husband had the wedding band, 18kt YG/PLAT with a small trillion diamond (set sideways) tension set.

skyqueen, can I inherit your collection?!!!

I love tension set rings. I believe Kretchmer has a guarantee of sorts about loss...I know they totally stand behind the setting. I would only consider a Kretchmer. I'm an engineer....so I think this setting is amazing. I plan to have one eventually, but my DH had his friend who is a jeweler make my e-ring.

I don't think these are masculine at all.

I LOVE tension set rings. But I haven't been able to get one because my finger is really small and my diamond is too big. I'd end up with a huge ring. I would also only get the Kretchmer rings as they guarantee their work.
