Tonight, a waitress spilled sweet tea on my bag. There are some slight stains on the exterior and a decent sized stain on the light colored cloth interior.
Any ideas how to proceed? This is my only Gucci. Do they do professional cleaning on their bags in any cases or is this something I can try to clean myself?

When I was looking at a preowned nubuck soho a few months ago, I called Gucci and they said they don't do any cleaning or refurbishing of nubuck bags. So I passed on the refurbished and bought new.

I think some of the posts in the handbag maintenance threads can help with the interior.

For the exterior, I wouldn't try a self help solution. You may want to reach out to one of the higher end handbag spas like Artbag or Leather Surgeons.

Also, did you make the manager aware. I don't want to be too crazy but if their employee damaged my bag, I would hold them responsible for making me whole.

I know you have to love your bag. It's a gorgeous model. I hope you find a solution!!

Thank you for responding the info on their company policy. I figured that would be the case.
The place we were was our local, "home cooking" type of place. It's not a large place, and it's a locals only type. It was kind of busy, so evvvverybody was all eyes on us when the tea went everywhere. I did not specifically seek out whoever was in charge, and I probably should have, but the waitress was beside herself. I felt so bad for her that I sort of just let it slide, but I did tell her that I'd let her know what happened with my bag.

Nightmare!

I am mortified for you :hugs:

Gucci should clean nubuck and suede bags (not leather). At least this was the case only recently. Just check att the store you bought the bag. I would charge the cost to the restaurant.

Thank you!! I still really don't know how to feel. Weird, right? I think I'm numb. Not much shocks my hubby, but jaw dropped and his eyes got HUUUGE.

Thanks for the info...I'll call the store. It's in New Orleans, and I'm far, far away from there, but I'll see what they say.

The restaurant should have paid. Coach has a suede kit that has some items. I would start by using a credit card to try to flick it out and use a suede bush. So sorry. I have one of these too. She rarely sees light of day because she is a magnet for trouble.

Looks like us nubuck Soho Disco owners understand.

So far mine's been fine, just some standard suede/nubuck spray (i never spray normal leather or exotic skind) and a little gentle brush - but no one has yet thrown tea or soup at it :-s

I'm so sorry this happened to you OP. Someone spilled coffee on the inside of my Gucci soho shoulder bag recently so I empathize with what you are feeling. I just pulled the linen out and used a mild laundry detergent diluted in water and a cloth to dab it out and it was good as new! I actually had a new appreciation for the linen lining after that. I'm not sure what to do about the exterior, but definitely take it to the store you got it from and see if they will help. *hugs*

Surely there are ways to clean nubuck? I actually own a nubuck disco and wincing from your experience. That is so horrendous. Perhaps google for tips to clean nubuck/suede? Maybe ugg boots owners would know what to do. I wish you the best of luck! That is such a terrible thing that happened.

I spoke to the aftersales department at Gucci. Sadly, they do not offer cleaning for their nubuc ( nubuck? Not even sure which spelling is correct anymore..haha ) bags.
My bag is taupe, so at least it wasn't a super light color. There are dark spots on it, but it doesn't look like it's polka dotted.
I am such a weenie with this whole situation. Maybe I'll make my hubby be the bad guy...LOL. He has no problems acting wishy washy about stuff like this; whereas I tend to be wayyyy too tender hearted.
Thank you all so much for all of the support.
I guess my next step is to call some professional bag spas/ cleaners.

The restaurant/server should pay for this.

I'm sorry, I'm not a Gucci regular, but I accidentally stumbled upon this thread. I just hope you'll consider that the average hourly rate for a server is $4.94 per hour plus tips. And you never know how many family members they're supporting. We handbag lovers take an inherent risk when we carry designer handbags that are expensive to clean and repair. I assume the cost to clean this bag will be above and beyond the average cost of dry cleaning , let's say.

I totally get what you're saying.
That is the whole reason I'm so reluctant to persue anything with the restaurant. I live in a TINY little town, and that restaurant is one of the few successful businesses in town, but it's still a small, family run establishment. They aren't making money hand over fist. I can afford to have it cleaned ( if it can be, that is ) with no problems whereas and I'm fairly sure a professional cleaning would be more than the waitress could make in a week. I stated it before, I'm very tender-hearted when it comes to things like this. I know it probably seems weak to a lot of people, but so be it.

I also agree that we take risks when we carry expensive bags. I said the very same thing to my husband the night that it happened.
