Tarnishing of screws on brand new Birkin

They are not all Hermes store purchases - majority came from Fashionphile, only a few from Hermes. I don’t know about others but I have such disdain for the game playing by stores - no energy or time for that. Again love the brand to pieces, don’t like the SAs and trying to be friend with them…if it’s organic ok, but the whole pretend play while blowing through $$$ of my money - um, really not my favorite. Speaking of which, here are my two latest babies from FP - K25 Ostrich and B25 Porous (just got her yesterday!!! ).

So gorgeous!!!

I have some tarnishing on PHW(2 bags in particular). A jewelry cloth always removes it. I live in a dry climate so go figure.....

I had tarnish on my brand new rose gold hardware on a birkin touch... just used the polishing cloth and it was easily cleaned.
Just reinforcing that these two are absolutely correct. I have a cloth for silver and one for gold (I use this one on my rose gold hw). Fixed this issue soooooo fast, I promise. I can post pics of before and after if you want. I have been delaying repolishing my rose gold hw birkins

I can see that the problem is in the title of this thread, but . . .
can we please stop perpetuating the use of the noun screws?
in answer to the inevitable question, 'What would you call them, then?'
- the straightforward term 'fixings' would be better
they are nails with the ends cut and pearled i.e. rounded off
the use of this skill being yet another of the features that make these items special

Hi everybody! I tried the Connoisseur’s Gold Cleaning Cloth and also a silver jewellery cleaning cloth on the hardware and on the ‘screws’/pins/“fixtures” that have tarnished and they do clean off the tarnish by quite a bit say 50% - 60%. I cleaned the entire hardware together as the area is quite small.

Just be careful as the jewellery cleaning cloth can leave some blackish stains on the leather surrounding the hardware. I managed to wipe it off quickly with a leather wipe. Whew!

My bags have spent good years with me and they are not light colored either so I am not that scared to try vs on a brand new bag.

Just be slow and very careful if you want to try!
