Yes, she did apologize immediately. Her son told her a story and she believed him. Doesn't negate the fact that young black men are routinely racially profiled.
There's been a lot of backlash press after the success of "Empire" with Deadline publishing a story that there's now too much diversity in casting. People are upset that they show is doing so well. I love it.

Yeah its easy to believe since it happens so often and at the end of the day shes going to believe her son.
I don't understand the backlash. Are they saying that the show should include or lean towards a more white cast?
The media in general seemed to be shocked that the show improved its ratings each week and beat Madonna's numbers with the soundtrack debut. There seems to be resentment. The Deadline article lamented the fact that casting directors were open to hiring more black leads at the expense of white actors. It was pretty comical.

What I AM surprised at is Deadline allowing that piece to be published. It's barely concealed racism. I mean, really?
As someone who comes from a very multicultural city (ie Sydney) I like to see on my screen what I see/who I talk to in my day to day - people of all colour, races etc.
It's like Deadline are saying that somehow white actors will suffer because black actors are now getting roles. What kind of messed up attitude is that?

Of course! I was ugh-ing the stupid article. The showbiz in the US have been dominated by the white and the Jews and now when there are more diversity in it, someone's complaining that the white characters might have been changed to accommodate non-white actors. Bush, please! Even if that's the case, it's about time!
This deadline article is pathetic. One season of about 5 shows with an overwhelming minority cast means the pendulum swung too far mind you 99% of TV and Movies are still exactly as it was before. I feel like the privilege establishment have been losing their entitled position for the past few years and it's becoming unbearable for them.
Cause most teen and young adult dependent upon their parents lie so they Dont get into trouble.

Well her son didn't necessarily lie to her, he was pulled over by police for a traffic violation, he was searched and he did receive a citation for something that had nothing to do with the original reason for pulling him over. It was her interpretation of the motivation behind those events that was incorrect. She was missing the context which may or may not have had something to do with what her son relayed to her.
It's also possible she's an emotional person who jumps the gun without getting all her facts straight particularly when her child is involved. She is an actress after all, it's not like there is a huge burden on actors/actresses to be pedantic about objectivity.
