I'm turning 30 soon and just recently graduated so I wanted to gift something myself nice :-) I've been looking at Chanel bags for awhile now and thought I had narrowed it down; however, I received a DBTY necklace for graduation, which threw me in for a loop.

As I researched the possible bags that I might want, I asked my SA at T&Co to look for the matching DBTY earrings in 0.3 (0.6 ctw). I thought/hoped it was going to take longer but it only took about a couple of weeks to get the earrings in. The price is a little bit over $3500 plus tax, which could get me a nice Chanel bag either vintage or a mini (both of which I've been searching for).

My question is which would you guys get? If you were to choose the earrings, would you go for 0.3 ctw or the 0.6 ctw (my DBTY necklace is 0.34)...it seems that people tend to go for the smaller carat size in this collection, not really sure why. As for what I have, I only have one Chanel bag (vintage jumbo) and one pair of earrings (fancier studs). Also, not that I would consider selling this but I know that Chanel bags hold up their value well...will these earrings hold up their value well too? Thank you!! Look forward to everyone's responses :D

Happy birthday! Its a tough choice, they're both great items.

I think I'd go for the Chanel bag. For me personally I'm not sure the Tiffany branded dbty is worth it, I'd get the Chanel bag, then save up and get a jeweller to make me a pair of dbty earrings which may be better value than Tiffany. That's just my personal choice though, good luck on your decision and do show us what you end up getting!

Congratulations on your graduation and happy birthday!

I'd personally go for the Chanel, but most jewelry that's similar in price range to the purses I look at doesn't make my heart sing.

Thank you for your input! Do you think the the DBTY won't hold up its value well? I was thinking of going to a jeweler but I actually don't have a set of jewelry (earrings, necklace, etc) and that's I thought this would be a nice set [emoji4] I'm not very familiar with jewelry as I am with handbags, unfortunately, so it's hard for me determine its "worth"...if that makes sense...

Between these 2 items specifically, the Chanel

Thank you! If it were a different brand of jewelry or a higher ctw, would that make a difference in your choice?

Thank you! I understand what you mean with a handbag making your heart sing...I'm normally a bag girl so this is really confusing me. My jumbo def made my heart sing, I LOVE that bag! But at the same token, I LOVE my DBTY necklace!

Which one will bring you more joy? Do you like your current studs with your DBTY necklace?

Honestly, I have no idea which I would enjoy more [emoji21] I feel like I would love both equally but I would def use the earrings more...I plan on using it on a daily basis. Since I have the other earrings for special occasions, this will be my everyday earrings. Honestly, I was fine with the other earrings together with my necklace but when I saw these, I liked them better with the necklace, of course, bc of they were a set.

Being more a purse person and only recently dipping my toes into nicer jewelry (and wanting sets), I can relate to what you're going through as I've been having a similar dilemma.

I'm more a bracelet and ring girl, but I realized I lacked a good pair of earrings for when I need more. As it's a basic item, I don't want it to be something I'd want to upgrade if I'm spending a decent amount of money on it because chances are they wouldn't get worn if I bought a larger pair.

I evaluate if I really love the item or see it as a practical purchase (set, I'd get use out of it, didn't have a good daily) and merely wanted it. I don't want to spend money on something I don't love.

Go try everything on! Enjoy the experience and find what you love.

It's definitely a "sleep on it" decision. Reading the thread over and seeing your replies, I'm leaning a little towards the earrings. They are a great size and you can wear them forever. Tiffany does a beautiful job with diamond bezel earrings.

I recently have been getting more interested in jewelry, I've mostly been a bag gal. I would go for the Chanel. I don't know much about Chanel, but you do run the chance that the bag you love could be discontinued. I think the earrings will be around for a while, granted the price might go up :(

If you don't get designer earrings you'll get a LOT more for that $$. I'd rather not pay for the stamp that no one will see and get ideal cut studs. I'd choose it over a purse.

Diamonds are forever so I vote for the earrings, plus you can wear them 24/7. 0.50 tcw would go nicely with your pendant.

That's what I was thinking...at least I'll be able to wear them everyday. Thank you!

+1. To me if it's something i can wear everyday thats more worth it to me. Although u certainly can use ur chanel bag everyday. But i personally prefer the earrings.

Lol yeah I COULD wear the bag everyday but in reality in my profession, I wouldn't be able to carry it everyday. I normally just carry my LV 6-key ring holder...but that hasn't stopped my from buying these beautiful bags!

That is true...thank you!

I'm looking at both vintage and new bags so it being discontinued isn't really a factor in my case but if it was then I would def go for the bag...one of the reasons why I'm having a difficult time deciding [emoji17] and unfortunately, both have the price increases which does (need to buy it sooner rather than later) and doesn't (when deciding between the two) play a factor.

And I think that's one of the main reasons why I'm having a hard time. First, I'm not used to spending this much money for jewelry...I'm just getting used to spending this much on bags, lol. I like the earrings bc they match the necklace that I received for graduation...so there's some sentimental value there. However, if I were to get a bag, it would have some sentimental value too...hence my dilemma. I guess my thoughts are I could technically get a lot more too if I were to go with a different bag...as in perhaps, the same argument could be said for the Chanel bag. I'm not sure if it's the status (for a lack of a better word) or what of having a Chanel bag that makes paying that price more worth it? It just SEEMS like a lot of the designer items may be overpriced....and I think both T&Co and Chanel fall under this overpriced category....just based on reading about the crazy price increases that both companies have had. Hope this made sense...and I hope I didn't offend anyone [emoji5]️

+1 I agree that other brands make great quality bags too, but only Chanel make a Chanel bag; whereas it may be only you that knows the earrings are Tiffany. Which is totally fine if that's what you value, it's a lovely experience shopping there & if you're paying so much for an item, why not get the whole luxury experience.

I think someone else mentioned it too, in future do u see yourself upgrading from the 0.6tcw & wanting something bigger?

You'll probably get more use/wear out of the earrings and they'll probably last longer (Chanel bags are obv made to last, but diamonds will always outlast leather), but go with whichever make you feel happier.

I'd get the bag and then get earrings made by BGD with ideal cut stones for less money. No one will know they're not the Tiffany ones (Tiffany SAs always think mine are from there!) and you'll get AMAZING stones that will outshine the Tiffanys.
