I did my own phone....took about 6 nonstop hours but it turned out GREAT! I occasionally had to replace crystals but it held up pretty well overall. I would NEVER pay someone $300-$400 to do something I could do myself for around $50.

I totally agree! I did: a Nextel phone (the old one with the blue strip down the middle), 3 iPods, 3 Sidekicks, 2 razrs and I really want to do the Razr I have now too. Most of which I used and sold on eBay.

It takes time but I enjoyed it...it was very soothing and therapeutic almost. LOL. Seeing the outcome is the best though. The only thing I have left is my iPod. I'll take pictures and post it later.

I think when you get the faceplates, the crystals fall off easier then when it's actually applied directly to the phone though. I know then you can't change your mind but why would you want to?? ;)

I've done cell phones cover before and also recently started doing iPhones.

It takes a while to complete and you have to be in the "mood" but it's an overall fun project to do on your own.

i did this for my prada phone and am now thinking to do it for my new phone (moto krzr) as well. its not hard but takes patience. when i was buying my supplies the ppl there did not recommend hypocement. they said it dries too quickly to work with well. but i'm sure others like it cause its really strong i think. i myself used gemtac and it was good. for my phone i used it a few months and only one crystal fell which i easily replaced.

i would recommend getting supplies from firemountaingems.com, they have a ton of colours and sizes and great prices. depending on how much colours you want i'm sure you can get it done for under 40-30 bucks!
Thank you so much for recommendation I am thinking of buying a new cell phone and mabye I'll just do it myself.

OMG YOUR WORK IS STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!! i am a huge hello kitty fan and i had never thought of doing a kitty design. i don't know if i'm advanced enough to pull it off but i think i will try!

I love these! I had a phone a long time ago that I sent to a company called NYC Peach to have them do it and they charged me $400. It actually held up pretty well until my son who was 2 at the time got mad and hurled it across the room. That did some damage.

I haven't ever thought of doing it myself. I don't know if I have the patience for it. Do y'all do it to the actual phone or did you do it to a snap-on case?

pinkcaviar.. i think i saw your auction on ebay.. hehee. this week actually.
I looove it.

Thanks VuittonsLover! =)

However, my auction ended a long time ago. :confused1:Sold about 2 months ago for the pink/blue one and nearly 5 months ago for the pink one! Eeks, I hope someone isn't stealing the pictures.

I remember NYC Peach! They had some really nice designs and tonnes of celeb endorsements, I'm not sure why they closed down!

As for your question, do it on a snap case. It's best to avoid applying it directly on the phone.

I remember NYC Peach too. That was when the whole craze started to do the phone (and I got my idea to do mine). I don't know what happened to them but I'm sure they made a lot of $$$ in that short period of time. The woman ran it out of her house and basically everyone would sit around her dinner table working on phones.

OMG dont do it.. when they startr chipping you will be hitting your head against the wall.. my dad got one off craigslist for my mom awhile back and well we call it the bling bling phone. it started chipping and now its just an ugly mess.
